Rancho Viejo — Restaurant in California

Everything I ordered to go was delicious! I had a craving for Menudo. I thought it was Saturday when I asked if they had Menudo, but then later realized it was Friday. (retired, lose track of days...lol)Most places where I have lived (southern CA and Las Vegas, NV) only make it on the weekends. I was ordering for my mother and me. We ended up sharing the Menudo and also ordered the Grande combination(I think that's what it was called) It had a hard shell shredded beef taco, a cheese enchilada, a chili relleno, and a small side of rice and beans. The menudo was perfect. I like some Hominy in it and am disappointed when some make without, which I know is a preference for many. They don't overload the hominy, just enough to give people like me what they want. Probably makes it easy for others to say "No hominy" and they can serve it without. The broth wasn't greasy like some places, and the meat was perfect. I didn't have any fatty pieces of snot like meat, no bone with fat like some serve. It was exactly how I like Menudo. All the toppings and tortillas were all in the bag also. They even gave a small bag of chips and a side of salsa. All the food I named above was delicious! I It was a lot of food and I have lots of menudo leftover and we couldn't eat the taco. I tasted the meat though, to verify it was great tasting too! I have ordered from places and I will like everything, but maybe not the hot sauce/salsa, or I won't like the rice or beans. But this place, like I said, everything was delicious! Only Mexican food place I will eat now because I know I won't be disappointed. And to the nice woman working, thank you for bringing it...

I'm so happy to find my new favorite Mexican restaurant! I moved into the area three years ago. I tried a few other Mexican restaurants that didn't impress me. I Google Map searched "best Mexican restaurants near me" and found Rancho Viejo. I found my favorite dish, the #16 combo, a chili verde burrito, chicken taco with rice, and beans. I started with the chips & salsa and rice & beans, which will speak to the quality of most restaurants. They were very good! Well Ive been looking for an authentic old school taste of Mexican goods with unsatisfactory results. Until a couple weeks ago I overheard 2 guys as they left the restaurant "DUDE, that was really good!" So I read all the 5 star reviews, checked out the full menu and low prices, and ordered Chicken enchilada, rice and beans, and a soft shredded beef taco. Wow! It's definitely 5 stars! Food was piping hot, fresh, the taste I've been looking for! You get large portions, fresh chips and salsa, I cleaned my plate! And for less than $15 I got a great tasting filling dinner.
