My family and I had a wonderful time visiting the Austrian Homestead. They have all kinds of interesting and friendly animals: chickens, alpacas, turkeys, quail, guinea fowl, and even emus! Our daughter was delighted. Ellie gave us a wonderful tour, she is very knowledgeable about the animals and it is evident that they are very loved by the family. Austrian Homestead is an amazing place with friendly animals, cared for by the super cool team of Elly and Paul. We stopped here on the way home from Joshua Tree for a couple of hours and wish we could have stayed longer (heat was a bit intense). Elly showed us their alpacas, emus, turkeys, and chickens. It was great to see so many rescue animals being cared for properly. We took home some farmers bread, jellies/jams, apfelstrudel, and a couple sweet breads. Each food item was better than the last. I bought one of her delicious apricot cakes at the Palm Springs organic farmers market Saturday morning and realized it would be a wonderful treat to get another for a dear friend from Germany.
