After a long day of flying, and knowing I was to be on the ground for the next three days – I wanted to have a drink and somewhat of a quiet atmosphere too put the long day behind me. I came into our little old town of Miller beach and noticed sand and salsa was still open Friday evening at 9:50 PM. I could’ve went next-door to the Flamingo but yet again I just wanted a quiet evening and a drink. I walked into Sands in Salsa and observed the staff cleaning and seeing the chairs upside down on the tables. I highly doubt it that I was going to have a cocktail – it was closing time. Still, I continue to the bar and was greeted by a very nice bartender in which I believe her name was Amy. With a smile she asked can I help you, I merely replied with a question are you closed? She let me know. There was no food available but yet she would do the best to accompany me of chips and salsa and was curious of anything else she might be able to serve me food wise. I kindly looked at her and said no I would just like to have a cocktail and wind down. Is that possible she spoke the words, “why sure”. Needless to say, that was a mark in my book! I had two cocktails, and made sure I left her a healthy tip. I did have a chance to meet the owner, As he was behind the bar taken out the garbage. A very nice gentleman. Well spoken and very business like. With this man’s attitude, I could tell, he was a good businessman in here to run a successful business after all. I know one thing for a fact. I will return with my entourage only to fill their stomachs with some damn good Mexican food. Believe me upon smelling the nice aroma of Mexican food. It brought up my appetite. I’ll be there...

Read moreSo I heard that Sand & Salsa formerly known as Nostalgia Steak & Seafood Miller Beach , formerly known as Miller Beach Cafe had their soft opening today and I had to go check it out. The menu is quite extensive. Their small Margarita (I had a Mango) was HUGE and delicious and I'm tipsy. The chicken empanadas, shrimp tacos, chicken tacos and chicken alfredo was tender where it needed to be, chrispy where it needed to be and just immaculately seasoned to perfection. Everything was delicious and the staff was friendly. (I did see a lot of the previous staff there which was really cool) The owners also own El Poblano Mexican and Seafood Restaurant in Merrilville and you can tell they are NOT new to this. If this is just a soft opening we have a LOT to look forward to! So glad we have a fine dining option for Taco Tuesday in the community again because almost NOTHING is open in 46403 on Tuesday Nights. AND they are open at 11am for some yummy huevos rancheros and Margaritas 🙌. The hours are: Monday-Closed Sun, Tues, Wed, Thurs 11am-9pm Fri, Saturday 11am-10pm
