We came here after seeing several of my friends here on yelp really liked it, but I have to agree with Randy B on this place.
Meh, not my favorite.
For me there were a lot of holes in the food, flow and service. After the hollindaise taste test fail, I'm not really sure what it was but it wasn't hollindaise more like oily gravy.
So I ordered the ole stand by, bacon and eggs with sour dough toast the toast was good. The eggs were runny. The bacon although thick and tasty, would have been better a couple of hours ago. The potatoes were just above room temp.
Elizabeth got the best bang for the buck as the ham and eggs had a huge slab of ham and it was juicy to boot, but she had the same runny eggs.
The others in my group liked their food for the most part, however, I look at the whole event of the meal and non yelper's don't seem to be as enlighten. I feel like if you don't have a standard you will like anything someone else cooks.
I first became aware of this when we were diners on Gordon ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares when they brought the food out and the cameras were on us and I at the scampi which was over cooked but played to the camera and not my palette. ....Light goes on.....
We got seated on the patio with a nice breeze.
The server was not in sync with his tables at all. water was not filled and toast and pancakes were missing and he had to be reminded to get them. Their are better places...
Read moreFood is excellent, but in my opinion poorly managed. I know with covid and everything not everyone is back to work especially in the food/restaurant industry, but we were told about a twenty minute wait and it was busy, but one table stood empty waiting to be cleared for almost 30 minutes and another for over 10 minutes all the while we and other people could have been seated.
I actually planned on re-writing my review after speaking with the owner and got a better understanding of what was going on.
I do understand the problem with under staffing, and once we were seated the service was good and again the food was great, and even tastier than I expected as I have heard so many good things about The Hidden Cafe from my sisters who go there a lot!
I want to thank the owner for getting back to me and I do apologize for not giving you a break on the wait as you were clearly stressed and doing your best. I do however, disagree with the comment about the tables not being cleared. Customers might have been seated and possibly gotten water and a beverage which I believe would be better than sitting there looking at un-bussed tables thinking the next people on the list could have been at least seated, that's all.
I will go back and maybe when I don't have a time crunch happening as well. This was not the day for a quick...
Read moreTalk about truth in advertising! Hidden Cafe lives up to its name in the most delightful way. Tucked away in the shopping centre, it's so well concealed you might think they're playing an elaborate game of hide-and-seek with their customers. Pro tip: bring a treasure map or a keen sense of smell to locate this gem!
Once you've conquered the challenge of finding it (no small feat, I assure you), you're in for a treat. The cafe offers both indoor and outdoor seating, catering to all preferences. Bonus points for being dog-friendly in their outdoor area - because who doesn't want to enjoy a fantastic breakfast with their furry friend?
Speaking of breakfast, it's absolutely top-notch. The food here isn't just good; it's the kind of meal that makes you question all your previous breakfast experiences. And the best part? You barely have time to anticipate it. The service is so quick, you might suspect they have time-bending abilities or a secret army of ninja chefs.
In all seriousness, Hidden Cafe is a standout spot. From its playful location to its excellent food and lightning-fast service, it's a place that turns first-time visitors into regulars. Just remember to leave a trail of breadcrumbs so you can find...
