A new place, so I thought I'd give it a go. The reviews seemed promising, and with a name like the flavor lab, you'd think they have more bold and daring flavors. Pretty clean, small diner like atmosphere. Fountain drinks, bottle cooler, and a bottle beer fridge behind the counter. Ordered their "Loaded Fries" and their TFL burger.
Their loaded fries, not the waffle, were more like the burger King fries, covered in the liquid nacho cheese you get from gas stations. How do I know? Then it had bacon bits that were nothing extraordinary but also a bit soft. I added the Buffalo wing sauce and pickled jalapenos, both of them the kind you can buy in bulk at sams Club and the individual packet of ranch dressing. The flavor profile wasn't exciting or bold or daring. The flavors seemed something you could get from a high school football concession stand.
Then, the TFL burger. Bread, decently thick patty, red onion, dill pickle chips, lettuce, and their ketchup, mustard, and mayo dressings swirled together. I'm genuinely curious where the flavor comes together. Maybe it was just this day? I don't know. It seemed the other reviews loved the food, but it was more bland than anything else. It's pretty much an average burger place. All the dressings were something you buy in bulk at sams or whomever the supplier is for the corner pantry at Elmwood Ave and Park St. To be honest, I'd rather grab a fast food burger, at least they have a flavor niche to capitalize on. We're I the owner of The Flavor Lab, I'd have to add something different to accentuate what would be signaturely mine and mine alone, to get me to stand out as a serious place to bring...
Read moreWow, I can’t even describe how excellent my first experience was. The cashier was so welcoming, helpful, and patient. The food was extraordinary—truly a 1000/10, and I mean it. I drove from Columbia, SC, just to try them out, and I don’t regret the drive one bit. I only wish they were in Columbia!
I’ve found a new favorite spot. The wings are amazing, the Philly wrap was absolutely incredible, and I couldn’t stop smiling while eating it, already thinking about my return. The fries were super crispy, just the way I like them.
Here’s what I ordered: the Philly wrap, lemon pepper dry rub wings, a side of sweet and spicy sauce, honey mustard sauce, ranch sauce, and an Oreo milkshake—all of it was top-notch. I can see why they call it the Flavor Lab—they’re definitely in the lab (kitchen) creating magic! They’ve got a great...
Read moreOverall, it was a great experience. First the food was amazing! Great flavor and made fresh to order (so there is a little of a wait but it is worth it). The wings are bigger and have lots of meat. There are 5 tables for inside dining and 5 bar height chairs. Our only point to say they can improve upon is we were a table of 4 adults. 2 of the adults got their meals 30 mins before the other 2 so we couldn’t eat at the same time. The explanation was to go orders and dine in orders go came in at the same time and some to go orders over lapped ours. Still they should try to get a table that all paid together on one bill, all the food out at the same time so the family can eat together. This isn’t enough to stop us from coming back or at least ordering To Go so the order will be ready all at...
