Was here over the weekend. Small crowd, only one other table when our party of 3 arrived. Got our orders put in right away, and received our appetizer (poutine) in a reasonable time. It was ok, but nowhere near enough gravy for a routine. Took about 35 minutes (guesstimate here tbh) for our food to arrive. A little long maybe for how busy it was, but no big deal. I had a Philly, which was decent enough.
Unfortunately, that's where the good ends.
Both my wife and daughter had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and they were, well, not very good. First of all, I guess when we order chicken fried steak, we assume that it would have country style gravy on it not brown. Just a personal preference but I guess it would have been nice to see that mentioned in the menu. The mashed potatoes were extremely chunky and had so much sour cream in them they were literally floating in them. When we pointed it out to our waitress she offered to replace them with something else, which they accepted and asked for broccoli. When they got the broccoli it was burnt which tells me that it was simply thrown in a microwave to heat up instead of steamed. The waitress herself only checked on our table the one time other than taking our order and dropping off food; the rest of the time we were there she was standing there talking to the one other table we had.
Turns put that one of the people at the other table was working there because as we were leaving she was putting on an apron and started taking items off the salad bar, without washing her hands or putting on gloves.
Used to enjoy eating here in the past. Unfortunately, after this experience we will not be back for...
Read moreFive of us came to the Cameron House for Saturday night prime rib. We had been there before (quite some time ago) and it was delicious. Started with drinks at the bar- 3 old fashioned’s and two canned beverages. Put $40 on the bar and she comes back and says, this isn’t enough, it’s $42.50. For five drinks? Are you kidding me? We are not in a big city and this isn’t tourism season. The old fashioned’s were good but over $10/piece. Then on to dinner. Four of us ordered prime rib after asking the waitress how the prime is and she said “excellent”. Two ordered MR, two ordered medium. All came out beyond well done, cold to the touch, tough, bland, grey in color and just absolutely awful. One ordered a different steak and it was ok. Not great but not awful. The salad bar is an up charge and it was okay. The soup was old, thick and lacked flavor. The hot artichoke dip was excellent. The table next to us had a burger that was great but the person who ordered prime was equally disappointed as we were. No rub on the outside, nothing to add flavor. None of us ate it, it was terrible. We asked to talk to management but they chose not to talk to us. Our meal was comped which we didn’t ask for, we asked to speak to...
Read moreAvoid the Friday night fish! The service was terrible. We ordered 3 beers then the waitress talked us into ordering an appetizer due to the wait for the food. We ordered a house combo which she was not sure what was in it. This turned out to be a handful of French fries, 2 mozzarella sticks and 4 onion rings all burnt to a crisp. 10 minutes after the appetizer basket showed up our beers showed up. The fish basket should have included(all you can eat) 3 pieces of fish, choice of potato, coleslaw and a dinner role. We did not get the coleslaw or dinner roll. We were not asked for any refills of beverages. Before I could ask for more fish the waitress had grabbed my plate and fork from the table. I had to ask for my fork back.Overall this was the worst dining experience I had ever had. A combination of a poor wait staff, bad cook and an atmosphere of I dont really care sums...
