This place is just alright. To be honest, I suspect if it were not one of very few restaurants in the area, they would have to try a lot harder. I know the only reason I still patronize the place is because there are not any others this close to my home. The food is pretty decent, with one exception that I have found, and that is if you call in your order, or place it to go, 90% of the time your fries WILL be undercooked. If you want them done properly, you need to request that they be cooked “well-done,” otherwise you are going to end up paying for fries you can’t eat anyhow. That is, unless you happen to enjoy half cooked fries. I don’t understand this, I have worked in the restaurant/hospitality business for many years, and fries are so simple to make. They also don’t do to customers who dine in, so it is happening intentionally, which is even worse. The only thing I can figure is that the cook is rushing the orders out, and just doesn’t care that customers are forking over their hard earned money for undercooked food. Don’t expect an overly friendly welcome when you arrive either, at times I feel like I am bothering the workers just by showing up. My favorite thing about this diner is the tea, but forget about actually getting any after 7pm, they never have any and I have never...

Okay, The Dog House... where have you been all my life?? I finally rolled through the drive-thru (because let's be honest, I wasn't getting out of the car with this humidity), and let me tell you -- my taste buds did a happy dance and then asked me why I took so long to visit.
I ordered a chili cheese burger with fries and slaw, and baby, that combo slapped. I'm talking messy, cheesy, juicy goodness that made me question every other burger I've ever had. The crew at the window? Sweet as tea on a Sunday porch. Friendly, fast, and all smiles -- which is rare these days when you're not even stepping inside.
A couple pro tips: They charge a small fee for card use -- no biggie, just bring cash and save the change for extra fries. And get this -- 10 hot dogs or corn dogs for $12. I mean... what in the recession-proof snack pack is this blessing?
Anyway, don't be like past me -- go now. Your stomach will thank you, and so will your wallet. The Dog House? More like Top Dog in my book.
I had to call them and tell them how amazing my visit was! My tastes buds are...
Read moreI had found this hole in the wall place after by best friend's memorial service. I have found, over the years, that looks can be deceiving. This hotdog joint appears to be just the run of the mill, small town restaurant. I pulled into the parking lot. The small parking lot was nearly full. I wasn't sure where the front door was. I had parked by the dumpster. It was the only space left. I took that as a great sign. I walked all around the building to get inside. As I opened the door I noticed they only had about 5 or 6 tables, that were being used at the time. There is a bar to eat at. I did not want to eat at the bar since everyone had to stand behind a few of the stools to order and pay. For this small town, country girl, I highly recommend this restaurant. The chili is great! The staff was very nice and helpful. When you order, they write your order number on the side of your cup. They will call that number out when your order is ready. You go the the bar to be handed your tray. Seat wherever you want. Great place. If I find myself in the area again, I will be sure to stop and...
