La Catrina Tacos & margaritas BG — Restaurant in Canton

I have to make a review on my visit today at the Ball Ground location. I have been going there for the last 2 years since we moved to Ball Ground and today I’m done with the poor take out service. We order the exact same thing every time so there is no excuse for today. I called my order in tonight and order Fajitas nachos and asked for no steak and add extra shrimp and cheese. So it should have been just shrimp and chicken with veggies. When I got home there was no shrimp at all. When I ordered I told the girl who spoke very good English to make sure they understood because we had had problems in the past. She assured me she would. When I arrived at the restaurant the Manager Hosea took my payment and I even asked him to make sure and he said it was done right. They tie up the bags so tightly that I would have had to cut it open to check it myself.So I took the manager at his word. When I called them to let them know what had happened the same girl(R) said that she was sorry and she spoke to the cook and he said he put shrimp in. I told her that he didn’t and asked to speak to manager and she told me to have a Blessed Day and hung up on me.

It took me a bit to get them back on the phone and when I finally did I asked to speak to manager again and she said he was busy. She said all he could do was give me 8 shrimp if I came back to get it next time I was in. I asked for a refund for the bad service I had received and she said that they couldn’t and she admitted to me that they had made a mistake but she said that they couldn’t afford to give away free meals.

My respond to that is what you really can’t afford is being inconsiderate of your paying customers. Like I said this is not the first time the order has been wrong but I haven’t heard of a manager handling this kind of thing in such a way. When I asked for Hosea’s last name she said she didn’t know it😳Really!!!

I never write reviews but I had to this time. So make sure you always check your orders...

After not eating here for about 6 months, we noticed the restaurant had new ownership, same name as the one in Canton we like. Optimistically we gave them a try only to be let down that the reason we stopped going is still there and still a problem. Though the food is good and (mostly) fairly priced, the service is the same as before.

The server that was always a disappoinment before is still there and ruins the meal. He doesn't bother to write down the order, yet forgets every time. I had to repeat my entire order back to him, the table across from us ordered 2 of the same thing yet only received one, and the table behind us had to repeat their order. He never responds or even reacts when you say thank you, he just seems bothered to even be there. And to top it all off when I am trying to request something he walks away mid-sentence and returns with the wrong thing, when I ask for what I want his first reaction is to tell me flat out "No.." only because it wasn't as convenient.

We will continue to drive twice the distance for better service elsewhere. We hope the new owners can get this fixed as we would enjoy the restaurant if we didn't have to deal with this server...

UPDATE 4.22.21: New owner I believe w/new name. ON A GOOD NOTE: I love all the low carb options on their new menu!! Pretty good prices too. The renovation is ok for a cafe or cafeteria style restaurant. It lost the ambiance it useto have :( Does not feel like a Mexican restaurant anymore). My husband said the mens restroom is BAD. The service has gotten bad over the last 2 years. Very slow & not real friendly at all. But, they need to work on the service. My husband says we are not going back because the waiter was rude, like irritated that he had to help us?? He didn't say hello & talked kinda rude too the whole time...He said, "WHAT DO YOU WANT?" He needs to learn customer courtesy if he is wait staff. It's one thing to be short on staff or slow...its another to be a rude server.
