Homestead Bar and Grill | Carbondale Restaurant — Restaurant in Carbondale

Great food but hectic service. I’ve been going to Homestead for a while now, and that’s why I gave it 2 stars because it’s now always this bad. We were a party of 3 and let me tell you that it was extremely busy for a Monday afternoon. We ordered very simple meals, onion soup which lacked of taste; kids rigatoni for the kid with chicken, also we ordered two kale salads with extra anchovies. Well the soup got there fast, along with our drinks and the kid’s rigatoni. Everything else was downhill from there. My child’s chicken never got there, and the salads ended up being one salad only, when I had asked for two. During this, I am very understanding because I could tell they were very understaffed, and I’ve been there before as a former waitress myself. Our waiter was kind enough to not charge for the chicken that never got there, and apologized. I was able to see some people get up and leave because nobody was taking their orders, nothing. I don’t know if management or owners, someone need to be more on the floor to help the floor staff, it’s not fair for the waiters, waitresses, bussers to have to deal with unsatisfied costumers. I will definitely be returning to give it another chance.

PS, once I got home from the restaurant with my kale salad to go, noticed there were NO ANCHOVIES, the one thing I was looking forward to at least from that dining experience after a long 24 hour...

I went this time alone and it was a Friday night they had a couple Empty Tables so it was steady. The server forgot about me and one of the other servers came up and asked if I had been helped. It tends to happen when it's a single person I notice. I ordered the steak frites and it came out with the wrong fries. I am sure they thought I didn't notice but I did. I have really enjoyed eating at this place. The first time I went and had the Thai ribs and they were to die for. I came with about 10 friends and the manager treated us more like a burden than happy we were there and getting our business. This was initially off putting as we were really excited to celebrate our friend’s birthday there. However, our server, CHRIS, was incredibly kind, welcoming, and he was on his game.
