Stopped in today with our family after touring the Carlsbad Cavern. This was the only restaurant option available. We arrived and there was one other table with two guests. Place was decorated cute, but there was a bad smell like the bathroom sewage was backed up. Our waitress took our orders quickly, the food arrived but we never seen her after that. My husband's top bun was completely burned on the bottom. We thought at first maybe it was the sauce, but when he checked the bottom one it was lightly toasted. We waited for our waitress to come see how we liked everything but didn't see her. We were short a set of silverware, water and napkins. I gave the silverware to my children and encouraged them to eat. I saw a few other people working there but no one checked on us. It was super odd as it was so slow. Another family came in. My family was about finished eating and I finally saw our waitress again. I asked her for the items she brought them over. I started eating and suddenly a different lady runs out saying get out but pay first our carbon monoxide alarm is going off. My husband and I just shook our head. Your life is in danger and we have ignored you the whole time, you are now eating but make sure you pay us and leave. Would...

We were staying at Whites Inn just a street over for our vacation and had the opportunity to eat here one day, and then decided to again the next because it was very good! The place was small and not crowded for breakfast both days, but we also went less than an hour after they opened in the morning. The wait staff were all very nice and friendly! They didn't have chocolate chip pancakes on the menu, I will definitely recommend they consider adding it, but they offered to put some on for my son... it tasted just like a cake! So good! Everything we had was delicious! My wife had one of their breakfast sandwiches, I had French toast, we had waffles and bacon, and the sausage was very good too! Food was an easy 5*. The pricing was not bad at all! I think we paid $50? $60 for 4 ppl, which on vacation isn't bad at all! The only thing I would say negatively, and it's not even a bad thing persay... tone down or change whatever they use to sterilize the bathrooms, VERY...

Entered the restaurant to an older woman standing at their host stand/checkout station. She did not even acknowledge us. After a couple minutes of us just standing their waiting, she said she would be right with us and directed us to a table, like she was completely put out that we were there. We were served by a young woman who disappeared and never came back. Both women working clearly do not care at all about making money or a decent name for the restaurant. Two people working in the gift shop area were not wearing masks and were walking about the establishment... We had to ask the older woman for our check. When we walked out, we saw the young lady who had been waiting on us sitting in a car with other people. Not sure what they were up too, but pretty all around shady if you ask me. I would not recommend...

So, I was hoping to give this place solid 4, and maybe a 5 after what I read online and with the pictures. The atmosphere is awesome, and the service was pretty good. I would have said awesome based on the attention of who I think was a manager, but our server seemed like she was having a bad day. As to the food, it was average. The burrito and the rice were bland and pretty dry, almost like they had been sitting under a heat lamp too long. The boys liked the tacos, and the other dad on the trip enjoyed a crisp chicken sandwich and fries with a root beer. I think the more burger and fries was the way to go. Give them a try, because I really think my issue was with my waitress.

Breakfast review: Overall the food quality was good but slightly overpriced. Service was very distant and unsatisfying (perhaps a little too early for the hostess). Convient location to eat before adventuring into the caverns. The classic breakfast was well-prepared. Nothing exceptional. The breakfast Burrito with Chorizo was surprisingly tasteful and unique. The hashbrowns incorporated into the Burrito was a good addition. The Green Chile sauce was definitely overpriced but I do recommend it if you like spice (seeds still in the sauce). The main dissapointment was a hard tortilla.
