When you get a plate of food from a restaurant and take the first bite, you could tell whether the chef
There were very strong indications that 2) was what we got from the chef in our visit.
It took half an hour for our food to come out for a half-full restaurant when we arrived. The server then noticed that the Breakfast Burrito was not made as I requested. He took it back to the kitchen for a redo.
We started on the Denver omelet, which was sitting in a POOL OF OIL. We soaked a thick napkin to remove the oil trying to make it more edible but the plate was still so oily that we had to ask for another dry plate to move the food over. We should have sent it back. The veggies were stir-fried separately, then stuffed in the already cooked egg, not incorporated in the egg, The veggies tasted like they were stir fried in a massive quantity of recycle oil.
The abundant amount of (recycle) oil coated our mouth so it made everything tasted unpleasant. We couldn't eat the Denver omelet anymore after a couple of bites, and just ate the remade Breakfast Burrito, which was quite a bit better but was underseasoned.
What I also found unpleasant was when we were done eating, a server came by and nicely asked "Everything good?", instead of "How was everything?", to avoid opening a conversation with us.
As a reviewer already mentioned, the service was good, but we came to try the food. We won't...
Read moreThe Breakfast Mug is such a gem! It’s family-owned, spacious, and has both indoor and outdoor seating depending on what you prefer. The interior design could use a little updating, but honestly, that’s quickly forgotten once you meet the staff and taste the food, they’re out of this world. We had been trying all vacation to get up early enough for breakfast, but kept sleeping in. By the time we finally made it here, I had planned on breakfast but couldn’t resist the Verde enchiladas. They came with Spanish rice and non-pork refried beans. The rice wasn’t really for me, but the beans and enchiladas made me feel right at home, enchiladas are my all-time favorite dish, and these were done perfectly. To go with our meals, he had a peach bellini mocktail and I had a cold brew. Both drinks were refreshing and delicious. My boyfriend ordered the steak and chicken quesadillas. They’re normally served with shrimp, but the restaurant was kind enough to make them kosher for him. He loved every single bite. The serving size was huge, four massive triangles, so we took half to go. He ended up eating them post-workout later and said they were just as amazing cold as they were fresh. The service here is so friendly, the food is made with care, and even the bathrooms impressed me, super clean, with no overwhelming chemical smell. If you want a great meal paired with true family-style hospitality, definitely stop by The Breakfast Mug. Whether you sit inside or outside, you won’t be...
Read moreI visited this restaurant recently and found the atmosphere to be decent, with a kind server who was friendly and attentive. However, the experience was marred by a long wait for service, despite being told that the food is "made fresh."
When my order arrived—specifically the "Mug It Up" meal and the salmon avocado toast—I was disappointed. The food was very dry and lacked flavor, which was quite surprising. The bacon from the "Mug It Up" meal had a strange, off-putting flavor that was gross and honestly ruined my appetite. The hashbrowns were also underwhelming; they tasted burnt on the outside but were mushy inside, lacking the crispy texture I expected. The waffles on the "Mug It Up" plate were dry as well, further adding to the disappointment.
The salmon on the avocado toast was paper-thin and overcooked, making it difficult to enjoy. The iced tea had a strange, off-putting flavor, and the iced Irish caramel coffee did not taste like coffee at all—more like syrup mixed with water, which was quite disappointing. They also lacked dairy free/milk derivative creamer options.
Overall, while the staff was friendly, the quality of the food and the flavors left much to be desired. I hope these issues are addressed, as there is much potential here for a better...
