The Island at Carlsbad — Restaurant in Carlsbad

This is a great spot for groups that have a hard time agreeing on what to eat. There’s a wide variety of cuisines to choose from, which makes it super convenient. One downside—it can get pretty hot during lunch hours since most of the seating is outdoors. A few restaurants offer indoor seating, but it’s a bit of a gamble depending on where you order from.

So far, my friends and I have tried the Cuban, Indian, and pizza spots. The samosas at the Indian place are a must-try, and the pizzas are fresh and reasonably priced. That said, this isn’t really a tourist destination—there’s not much else to do in the area. The Island is nice. They recently upgraded the outdoor furniture and added free Wi-Fi. It's a nice place to have lunch outside in the middle of an otherwise boring office park. It has most services you would need onsite so you can get some errands done around lunchtime as well. For lunch there is a salad & sandwich shop, a Japanese restaurant, pizza place, Greek, Indian, Mexican, juice shop, coffee shop. Punjabi tandoor is my favorite Indian food that I've ever had. No where else makes it the way they do. I live in NorCal now but when I visit I get $$$ to bring home.
