Famos on 66 — Restaurant in Carterville

Ended up in Joplin for work. To be honest when I think of good Italian food my first thought is little Italy in NYC. So when I say I didn't seem this coming ... I really mean it. I eat Italian food in every city I find my self in and hands down this place rivals my all time favorite resturant (paesanos) in NYC to which I go out twice a year to eat because it's so amazing.

I was in town with a college and we decided to visit two days in row just so we could try other dishes... none of them disappointed..

Let me tell you this place belongs in a big city surrounded by restaurants that could only attempt to have food this good... the owner of this establishment deserves to watch as his competition flounders to make food this good and to watch them as they fade away, knowing that famous creates master pieces for dinner.

This is a hidden treasure that I am 100% sure will be around for a very long time and everyone that visits within a 60 mile radius should be told about this place and should stop in.

So we have talked food, let's talk staff. Yup you guessed it.. being right off route 66. The staff embodies the personification of small town kindness and charm. Even in the midst of being busy with a wait, our waitress was calm, friendly and attentive.

If you enjoy and often eat Italian food, you will not want to pass this opportunity up..

if you have an extra $1000, fly out to the area just to eat here... I am going to next month ;) I have to bring my wife...

GREAT EXPERIENCE!!!! Famous Grill has done it! Brought a High End Restaurant Experience to Carterville, Mo............

Where do you start when you have such a Great Eating Experience???? I guess from the beginning...... When we walked in the atmosphere was inviting and was greated immediately. Drinks came out fast and they were in "Glass" glasses instead of plastic (A+).

Appetizer: We had the Garlic Cheese Curds.... DELICIOUS! Hot, Eye Catching & Smelled Amazing! (A+).

Sides: Salad - Fresh, Colorful and Crisp. Salad Dressing was Fresh and Plentiful. (A+)

Entrée: Stacked Reuben Sandwich - The Best Reuben I have ever tasted! Mouth watering, Eye Appealing & most of all DELICIOUS with every bite. (A+).

Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwich - Hot, Smoked Flavor, & Moist. Very Delicious! (A+).

Cheese Hamburger - Delicious! Perfectly Rounded, Fresh 8oz Hamburger, Seasoned to perfection! (A+).

Wings - Award Winning Wings! Delicious, Not overly sauced (Just Right) and No Ranch Required. They offered the Bone In or Boneless, I got the Bone In and they were perfect 👌!!!!

Well when I was a kid I got an ice cream cone here. Now it’s a very good Italian Eatery. I was recommended this place by a relative. I arrived and it was a a little slow getting my order take. But once my order was in my salad arrived pretty quickly. I’m a big bleu cheese fan. Don’t eat their bleu Cheese lol. It wasn’t very good. The food dish came out next. A steak onion and mushroom with a nice brown cream pepper sauce. Wow was it good! Once I finished the serving was really big and I had a lot left over. I received the bill and was told by the waiter, “let me know when you’re ready and I will take care of that for you.” I put my card on the table. Most restaurant usually when a waiter says he will take care of it that means comes to my table and takes my card for the bill. Well after waiting for some time…I finally said I was ready and got his attention. He said, “Sir, you have to come up here to pay.” I told him I had never been there and didn’t know. Well about 60% of the restaurant knew what was going on by then. So the food was amazing. Service was just so so. I would still recommend for the food. I wanna return just to try...
