It's definitely nice to have another coffee shop back in town. Good location but it's very expensive. Two small coffees and two donuts was north of $12 before tip...yikes. Also it's very small, usually nowhere to sit (don't come if you have more that two people in your party). Part of that is due to the popularity of being a new place in town but you definitely feel like you can't sit and have a conversation for more than a few minutes because of all the people standing around. Hopefully the owners plan to open up more seating in the basement or upstairs...
Edit #1: Been here a couple of times since I posted my review...as another reviewer mentioned, there are definitely some growing pains going on with the staff/service...maybe smile and say thanks? Sheesh, I didn't realize it was such a privilege to buy a donut and coffee here...
Edit #2: At some point you've got to get it figured out. Every time we go here part of our order is forgotten and has to be re-ordered. It still takes 10 minutes or more to get the drinks and one of them is still missing. Yikes! The layout behind the counter is awful, tiny space, 3 workers always tripping over each other, too much cross over to make a single drink order...I get that the fancy equipment looks good and the styling is chique but why sacrifice service just to look cool? It's really not the employees fault here, the drink prep area is just not laid...
Read moreExperience: I've come to Getaway several times since they have opened and have enjoyed getting to know the staff and regulars. I cannot think of a place that has this level of detail in coffee, cocktails, beer, tea, and everything they offer. Everything is so carefully considered - a true gem of a place. I've had a few of the IPA's on tap and they are wonderful. The old fashioned is well balanced with a little Getaway touch on top, and the drip coffee & lattes are tasty. They bring in donuts on Saturdays that are fluffy and delicious - so addicting. I can't wait to see this place in the summer with all the motorcycles and autos it will attract. Sure to be a destination for many!
Space: The bathroom is spacious and has a changing table. They have a small kids bench in front of the window with books. It’s a smaller building so if it’s busy it can be a bit crammed, but once the patio is built and summer is here that will help a lot. If you are going to work here, the WiFi is fast and reliable. Highly...
Read moreThis place is new which probably has stopped me from going lower in review as I know there are growing pains.
The location is charming and very cute on the inside. It's clear all the equipment is higher quality as well.
The coffee has been good overall but both times I've never left so wow'd by the coffee. I do explore a lot of coffee shops throughout the twin cities though to compare to. My brewed coffee came out luke warm and my latte wasn't bad but wasn't especially good.
The baked goods are overall good
The biggest growing pain I see them having so far is their service is still ramping up.
I think most of these issues will be fixed as the place gets more of it's feet under them, but right now I struggle to make it a...
