PREVIOUS POST This is not the first time we have been in here and the kitchen make a chow all in Afghanistan look like high dinning. This is the last time we will be eating there. Enough is enough. The Leo's family needs to step in and take back the two Grand Rapids locations and the Lansing location this fool has before he ruins the families good name in the Metro Detroit area.
UPDATED POST 3/22/2024 So we gave the location another try for dinner today and it was a sad, sad situation. I ordered a New York and a West Side Coney, my husband ordered two New Yolks' His came with cheese melted all over them, which was wrong and he did not get the fries. One thing I hate is when one person has a problem and the other person's food arrives. It is just awkward to sit there and eat in front of someone who is still waiting for food.
He finally got his and the fries were cold and greasy. The hot dogs were warm not hot. I took one bit out of my West Side and sent it back and had them take it off the check, the chili was stone cold on the hot dog and it was just warm. I had had a problem a year ago getting sick on a hot dog with their chili on it and was not going to take the chance.
Health department needs to step in here and do a good inspection and check their food handling and temp setting.
This place used to be a great place to go each now it is a sad sad shadow of what it used to be. The family should revoke the license for this owner and either take the place back or close it down, this owner does not care about the Leo's name and reputation and is just...
Read moreAt first moment of walking in the door I was slightly disappointed you can really tell that "the pandemic" has affected the quality of service that you would normally get from Leo's. There's a welcoming sign that asks you to sign into their building for contact Tracing as well as to inform you can seat yourself. The first line of tables that was available for customers were all dirty from previous customers. yet I see a couple servers walking around and the tables were still not being cleaned nor were they serving food, giving drinks or providing menus. Once I was seated a bright happy young man by the name of Jack was my server. He was very attentive very kind and also informative. He was prompt to take her order and brought it back exactly as I needed it to be because we had added some special ingredients to some of our foods and they were much obliged to give it to us the quality of the food was excellent it wasn't too hot wasn't too cold .perfectly golden onion rings, the chicken tenders were on point and nobody can dispute that Leos Coney Island Coney dogs are one of the best top of hot dogs here in Grand rapids Michigan the reason for the four stars is the lack of ability to clean their building so that other customers can then truly get a full enjoyable experience of what Leo Coney island...

When I got there I say myself but noticed it was busy but not too busy. Over heard some of the waitresses talking at each other (kind of funny in a way lol) yelling but not yelling lol.
Anyways, I sat down and was immediately greeted by one of the waitresses who was an absolute sweetheart. (Older then me but not old African American lady whose name i cannot recall I wish I could because she was beautiful) I think she knew I wasn't from Michigan and asked if I needed more time to look over the menu, I did lol.
She came back and of course I had to be that guy with a bunch of questions about the waffles and even how big the oatmeal bowl was (look don't judge me. I was hungry okay..sheeeesh)
She answered my questions and then took my order. (Yes I got the waffle, Two orders of toast, two eggs, 4 sausage and a bowl of oatmeal. So what, again don't judge I'm fat.)
Food came out faster then expected and let me tell you she nailed the description perfectly. Food was good, service was great!
Got my check and paid. (I just hope she feels like I tipped well enough for the service she provided)
Moral of the story - Great food, Great people and next time I visit Grand Rapids I will be stopping...
