El Palenque — Restaurant in Cave City

I'm a Yank in these parts. From Washington state. My experience overall, at El Palenque, near Evening Shade, AR (2.5 hours roughly south of Little Rock), was mostly positive. The wait staff who attended my table was very positive and respectful. There wasn't hardly anyone else in the restaurant. The food was quite good for Americanized Mexican food. Beat Azteca hands down in the food department. The reason I gave a 4 star, not a 5, is the wait staff, as nice, pleasant, and respectful as they were as a whole, they seemed to have their minds on other things than their job duties. As a result they were less attentive than it seemed they could have been given the number of staff seen for more than 5 minutes on the floor, and the number of customers. The family all love El Palenque. We eat here quite often, as it is conveniently located. Particularly if you are a regular or repeat customer, expect the friendly staff and servers to always be delighted to see you walk through the doors. They always remember the little things about my orders, my preferences, without my having to remind them. That's hard to come by!

We’ve lived around here for 12 years and didn’t know they were here. We went tonight for the first time and they’ve got customers for life! The restaurant is clean, the workers are so nice, talked and joked with my kids, and they were so fast! Our food got to the table so fast.
