Donuts Crown — Restaurant in Cedar Park

The best recommendation I can make for this shop is that the service was fast and friendly. We used the drive through and had our order in less than 5 minutes with one car ahead of us in line.

Unfortunately, the donuts were not fresh, in fact, they were cold. It was around 8:30 AM, early enough that I would expect the donuts to still taste fresh.

We chose 3 varieties: cinnamon donut holes, a chocolate old fashioned, and an apple fritter. The raised cinnamon donut holes were not light and airy. They were heavy and dense. I didn’t particularly like the high cinnamon to sugar ratio, but that’s just a matter of preference. The chocolate old fashioned donut didn’t have the typical shape of a ring with tapered edges and cracked surface, nor was it crispy as it should be on the outside. The frosting was tasty and the cake had the sour cream batter that I was expecting, but there was a slightly old oil taste that made me put the donut down after one bite. The apple fritter had good flavor, and would have been wonderful had it had that lovely combination chewy crispy texture, but since it was cold, it was tough and gummy. Overall, I had 3 bites and wasn’t interested in having more. My husband’s first comment was that they weren’t fresh, but he still ate most of the donut holes, so they weren’t terrible.

There are many good reviews of this donut shop, so perhaps this was an off day, especially considering the challenges of operating during a pandemic. I’ll likely give it another shot when things get...

THE BEST DONUTS ON PLANET EARTH!!!! I have eaten a lot of donuts in my time and I am a chef of 25 years. There is not a donut that even comes close to the flavor and texture of Donuts Crown donuts. And I cannot skip their wonderful selection of kolaches they're jumbos are not jumbo there super giant kolaches and OMG the flavor will blow you away. I cannot gush enough about this little brick and mortar donut shop tucked away in Cedar Park. Just go in one time and experience this place and you will be hooked for life you could live on the other side of the planet and still travel all this way to get their donuts.... At least I would. So the small trip from Austin to here is nothing well worth every mile. If you are a connoisseur of donuts you will thank me after you check this...

Been going here for years and have always had a good experience. I am thinking it’s under new management or ownership because it’s been going downhill over the last few months. I have been there several times and each time have been disappointed. So far I’ve had stale breading with their kolaches (about a month ago), wrong donuts being put into my bag (2 weeks ago), and today the eclairs with no cream… You’d think the employee would ask if you’d like cream with your eclair when you order it but that’s not the case. I called to tell them my eclair had no cream, and was initially told it was my fault for not specifying I wanted any. Unfortunately with the 3 strikes: my business will be going to the other donut shop...
