I am staying at the hotel for a week on business. I was initially very impressed by the facility and service. After being taken out to dinner by coworkers last night, I was looking forward to checking out The Class Act restaurant for dinner.

I arrived back at the hotel at 6:30 p.m. and walked straight into the restaurant where a very nice gentleman expained to me that they had no seating for one person at the rurestaurant all evening because it was their special World culinary Tour event night. However, he stated that singles could be served the full menu at the bar and the three tables located directly outside of the bar. Two people were sitting at the bar and the three tables were empty. I sat down at one of the tables and proceeded to wait... and wait ... and wait ...

I never saw anyone behind the bar, and after over 30 minutes I walked back to the restaurant and asked if anyone was serving in that area. The gentleman went and checked and came back and said "he's behind the bar." When I asked if I needed to order at the bar, he said "no, I'll send him out." It was a big mistake to stay, but I was very hungry after a long day working.

The "service" was indifferent/aloof throughout. I started with the house salad, which was very good. However my knife was taken away before the short ribs were served and by the time the bartender returned to the bar (he never came back to the table) and I got a knife, they were cold and tough. To his credit, which resulted in a one star rating being increased to two, when the bartender returned with my check he finally asked how everything was (apparently not noticing that I only took one bite). I said "not good" to which he replied "I'll take care of that." He returned with the desert menu and offered me a complimentary dessert. I looked at the menu, and since they had my favorite, creme brulee, I ordered that. It was fine, but I really wish I had a car (there is NOTHING nearby) and had left and had an...

Awesome Show! Between TJ and me we have seen so many weddings and our first choice was Class Act. In fact we had been at dozens of events they have done so it was a not brainer for us who to have on our special day. We had them drive all the way up to our event three hours away but it was worth it. The planning was easy and fun in fact we had dinner while doing the planning with Class Act. They really know how to treat you right. We talked to the party planner and planned the whole ceremony and reception in one meeting. It was so nice to know that there would be continuity at the event. The person that planned the event was actually at the event coordinating the activities. So we planned the ceremony, dinner and dance. Class Act provided the Wedding Officiant with DJ and PA system for our outdoor wedding and a larger system was set up inside for the dinner and dance. Class Act kept the guests engaged and we all laughed a lot during dinner it was so much fun. The two guys from Class Act were amazing. They kept the party going all night. There were always people on the dance floor. They were great to work with and had an idea for everything. They aren't your typical DJ Company, they don't work off of a computer and just stand behind the booth the whole time, the MC goes around the room talking to everyone and the DJ will come out lead dances at times. They are high energy and we had a good time. We are so incredibly happy with how everything turned out. Thank...

We had an outstanding experience at this restaurant and hotel. We hosted an elegant 90th birthday celebration for my mother here recently for 24 guests. It was incredible! Everything was perfect, from the beautiful conference room, the lounge area where we took family photos and enjoyed delicious appetizers, to the outstanding cake, apple tartlets, and vegan cupcakes, to the amazing gourmet dinner. I can't speak highly enough of the excellent service we received. Jodie Power, wait staff Kale and Colton, and hotel and bar staff, made the entire planning process and the event elegant and seamless. They even assisted with the coordination of the gorgeous flowers for the event designed by Beth from the Oakland Hyvee. My mother was ecstatic and truly fell in love with this beautiful place and the kind and wonderful staff. I received so many compliments from my guests on the event, but the kudos really belong to the staff, the restaurant chef, and Cat Grimsley, the pastry chef for the gorgeous and delicious birthday cake and desserts. Bravo! A Class Act performance from a great...

First visit to The Class Act. Delicious food, friendly service. Nice atmosphere. The restaurant is located in The Hotel at Kirkwood Center. So, a great location for any special event, meeting, or gathering. In addition to being a nice local restaurant, it's part of Kirkwood college. For anyone not already familiar with Kirkwood, here are some interesting facts… The 680-acre campus in Cedar Rapids includes a 400-acre working farm, 27 buildings with 1.4 million square feet of interior learning space, and a 15-acre athletic complex. Kirkwood students come from 100 different countries, all over the United States and all 99 Iowa counties. With 14 locations across 7 counties, Kirkwood is the area’s leading provider of accessible, affordable, and exceptional education and training.

Our server Kale was excellent. Very thorough and attentive. We each tried something different. I had the Cobb salad with Chicken. It had unique corn bread crouton, cranberries, diced sweet potatoes, yummy fresh crumbles bacon bits. The sweet potato were the only part of my meal I was not a fan of. We all tried the salmon Cajun soup. It was good the salmon melted in your mouth. The Class Act burger my son said was easily the best burger he has had. My son's girlfriend had the Iowa omelet and she said it was yummy. My husband had the corn beef hash he said it was a great from scratch hash.

This restaurant is located in The Hotel at Kirkwood Center, and is a Culinary Arts Program. Elegant decor. Great service and food at a slightly higher price point than a chain, but the students are learning (and we get to eat the rewards of their education). The sticky pork belly was perfectly balanced between sweet, sour, and savory. The special of the day (ribeye) was perfectly cooked, the pork chop, duck, and steak fries were excellent. Will come back when back in town!
