Absolutely the worst fish tacos I have ever had in my life. My friends with me said they smelled horrible when my plate arrived at our table. I wasn't that hungry and was worried about sending it back. I ate one bite of the fish and am praying I do not get sick. My friend said she could hardly eat her meal because the odor from my meal engulfed the table and it smelled like bad fish. She had a cheese enchilada and said it was OK and only ate half of her beef taco. I ate the guacamole and salad that came with the tacos. Her boyfriend had a chimichanga and a relleno and he liked his meal. It was a beautiful day and the patio was full. The servers were dashing in and out of the patio door. Every 30 seconds or so the door slammed shut and it was nearly unbearable to try to eat and have a conversation the slamming door was so loud. Never in a million years would I go back to this place. Do not get the fish tacos! In my opinion, they are not edible. They were greasy and the fish smelled bad. $18...
Read moreWe were visiting Grand Junction from Vermont. After a beautiful day on the Mesa we were looking for a place to eat in Cedaredge before going to my great nephew's football game in Montrose. We found La Familia and we're so glad we did. Miguel, the chef/owner greeted us with a big smile at the door. We had complimentary chips in salsa and then: Taco salad, enchiladas with cream sauce and rice and beans, burritos with green sauce and rice and beans, and a burrito and taco with rice and beans. Everything came to the table piping hot. The portions were generous and the food was delicious. Even though we didn't have room, we ordered sopapillas which were also great. It is clear that Miguel loves his job and has created a welcoming restaurant with reasonable prices. We wouldn't hesitate to go there again if we lived...
Read moreThis is our second trip to La Familia. They have a variety of menu selections to satisfy just about anyone craving the taste from south of the border. The carne asada is seasoned and cooked perfectly. Not a plate of chewy gristle and fat. I ordered the Tacos de Asada, my wife ordered a pork tamale and the nachos fries. They made it home for some later midnight snack. The portions are plentiful for even the heartiest of eaters. The tamale was a fantastic balance of flavor, meat and masa. The atmosphere is more casual country cabin vs a way over done Mexican theme. During more seasonal times they have a huge patio seating area, complete with a kids playground, right above Surface Creek; so you can listen to the soothing sounds of the creek, get lost peering out into the woods and enjoy a fine meal with...
