In short... the food is delicious but the service and hours of operation are terrible. We came our first night at the hotel and immediately ordered drinks and food. The kids sodas came quickly but we waited about 20 mins for 2 beers to get poured. The food took longer but was worth the wait.
Second night we got a text saying they were opening at 5pm as opposed to 4pm so we arrived accordingly. We stood waiting to be seated for about 10mins only to be told that the restaurant was closed for dine in services and only doing to go orders! I thought it would have been nice to know this in the initial text that was sent before 4pm.
Third night, so awful. We called the front desk to confirm they were open. They advised they would open at 4pm as usual so we headed down at 3:50pm. We waited infront of closed restaurant doors with other people until 4:30. This was after a visit to the front desk asking if they were certain it was open today. It took that visit to have them call the restaurant and get things moving. Only 2 tables of people we sat as everyone waiting left so it totally wasnt busy. So we went in and were seated... far far away from the woodfire restaurant seats in the buffet section at a dirty table. Why!? There were no customers in the whole dining area of the actual restaurant! I asked to move and then we were sat at the perfectly good table we walked by in the beginning. Omg. Then, apparently It was our servers first day... she got our order all wrong, didn't take dirty dishes, brought me an up charged check way too early and then shoulder shrugged when I pointed out the discrepancies. She had to come back and ask us what size we wanted our beer and wine. When I told her 6oz she brought me 9oz. When I mentioned the mistake she gave me an oh well kinda shrug so I thought she was letting it slide but when the bill came she charged me for HER mistake and basically told me I HAD to pay for it. Oh and did I mention this entire dining experience took 2.5 hours from start to finish?! Awful. You might ask why we kept going back? Hope? I dont actually know. I guess we just couldnt imagine that it could be so terrible when you're spending what it cost to be there. Its definitely not being reinvested in training or hospitality. Theres no standard and there is ZERO communication between the hotel and the restaurant. When you go to great wolf you know you're going to spend. They are a disgrace to service in general and no one should spend their hard earned money at the woodfire lodge. 1 star only because Google won't let me...
Read moreThis place was horrible! Save your moneymand do the buffet!!! First off, we ordered 3 appetizer, the calamari and (2) orders of wings along with our kids' dinner at the same time. The kids' food came out first, then the wings. Between the 4 adults that were there, we finished the wing and still have not seen the calamari. Long story short, it came out 15 minutes later. Second, my daughter's spaghetti came with about 1 tablespoon worth of sauce on her whole plate and it was only luke warm. My son's burger was ok, yet we had to ask the wait staff several times of Ketchup, water, or order a new drink.
So, after being seated over an hour ago, our entrees finally is getting to our table. This was an absolute atrocity! I ordered the big platter of meat, forgot what it was called, and everything basically room temperature. Almost as if our order had been sitting out for a while. Next, my wife's steak. She ordered the fillet, medium rare, so a little bit of pink in the middle. Yeah, that was a joke! Whoever cooked that has no business being on a grill, or in a kitchen for that matter. When she cut open the steak, it was completely well done, dry, and I do believe my leather bt was more edible than that steak was. And, of course, we sent that back too.
Like I said earlier, save yourself some $ and go to the buffet...
Read moreAfter standing at the podium for about 12 minutes watching server after bartender/server etc look at us without greeting us or even smiling someone finally came up and then ignored us while they checked their phone status. Then after being seated we waited 10 minutes just for someone to give us menus. Only to wait at least 10 more to finally get two shakes and a beer. We finally got to order. I ordered things to go and dessert for the table. A little over an hour later we finally had our food and paid and left. The dessert was old and dried. One part of it was hard as a rock, the spoon couldn't cut into it. The food after we checked it out in our room upstairs was horrible and inedible and I ended up throwing it all in the garbage. The salad was green and brown and was covered in really old dressing. Like maybe it had been someone's previous order that week. It tasted worse than it looked. The Mediterranean salad had dried over cooked chicken and wilted spinach. The brussel sprouts were oily and very very very chewy. It was like they had shredded cabbage for coleslaw and then left that out by accident the night before and decided to use it for my meal. I have had better food at a gas station in the middle of the night. A total waste of almost 100 dollars...
