Stonewater Restaurant at Castle Ridge — Restaurant in Centralia

Food was standard pub food. Stopped by for a late lunch on a Sunday and was disappointed by the sketchy receipt charges by the manager. Two of us ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich but they were out of it, according to the server. No issue, we ordered the plain fried chicken sandwich which was the same price and asked for a different sauce on the side. Turns out we were charged the hot honey chicken entree price which was $4 more but not at all what we ordered. The server claimed the manager said to put that in the system. How is that even remotely professional? Not how a restaurant should conduct business. But the manager didn’t seem very professional as she stood at the bar our entire time there socializing with someone at the bar. Lastly, the Sunday fried chicken special was definitely not worth the price. Once you finish the first plate, they take a long time to bring out the second “plate” of chicken and it’s just one small piece. You can only get one piece at the time. Without many other dining options in Centralia, maybe this place will get away with these amateur moves and people will consider it a high end establishment. We made reservations. Was able to be seated on time and drink orders were taken in a timely manner. Food order was taken and that’s when everything went down hill quick fast and in a hurry. We sit there for 2 HOURS waiting for our food. Several tables that came in after us were served their food way before us. 3 people at the table had to get their food to go. The rest of our group was served AFTER a big party received their food (which was ordered HOURS after us. When the food finally arrived it was cold and nasty. Yes they took care of our bill (except for the tip) but the entire point of this is that I’ve never in my life had such bad service from the kitchen staff. I visited southern Illinois for the holidays and wanted to treat the kids to a nice dinner, not fast food. When I saw images of the restaurant, I knew the kids would get a kick out of it, and I was impressed by the menu selections. I made our reservation online, and we arrived about 30 minutes early. The hostess was extremely friendly and welcoming. We were seated immediately and were served by two enthusiastic waitresses. The kids even commented about how friendly everyone was here. We had a fun surprise when Santa and Mrs. Claus came to visit the kids at our table and invited them for a photo after dinner. We had a great time and highly recommend.
