Bean Broker Coffee House and Pub — Restaurant in Chadron

Driving through Chadron I did a quick check for coffee shops. Everyone was just closing as I pulled into town, but these guys were open until 8! (Score!) I bought two 20 oz lattes. The price felt a bit high- probably about 50 cents to $1 a cup higher than I'm used to paying- but the sterling reviews and late hours had me sold! The coffee was hot- which is a plus- but I wasn't a fan of the taste. It didn't taste like much flavor was in there because instead of a sweet drink it was pretty bitter. Beyond that, the drinks felt pretty light so imagine my surprise when I opened up to find that I had paid more per cup and received closer to 16 ounces in my 20 ounce cup. Sure. I could've gone back in and complained, but I don't trust people with food after I hand it back to them. Personal flaw, I know... but I prefer just paying for something and receiving what I paid for. I shouldn't have to come back in and take time from my road trip to correct a mistake like, "hey, could you fill the last 1/4 of my cup, please?" I'm glad to see others enjoy it, but I personally...

The Bean Broker is an amazing social hub/coffee house located in several rooms on the entire ground floor of a stately old bank building in the small Nebraska panhandle town of Chadron. The coffee offerings and baked goods are world class. The meals rival any you would find in any large metropolitan area. The smoked salmon Caesar salad combo is my favorite. The wine and cocktail offerings are superb. Check out the delicious hors d’oeurves. The specialty pizzas of several varieties are crafted and grilled fresh in house and are served on a wooden spatula and easily feed two or three people. My wife and I couldn’t finish one. If you’re interested in live music you can find a variety of musical offering as well. There is an open mike night once a week. The atmosphere and ambiance is uptown with a small town feeling. We just had a terrible experience here. Our order took 45 minutes to make and while the counter staff was dealing with a steady stream of customers- they were not swamped at all. What they were was disorganized and rude . Every single customer was met with an extremely long wait, super bad manners, and a lot of incorrect drinks. This leads me to the next point. We received the wrong drink for our kid and needed to replace it. The staff replaced 4 other drinks they made incorrectly before this. They then refused to replace this drink and said it was against policy??? At this point, I stepped in and asked for a full refund because of the terrible customer service, the extreme wait, and this blatant lie. When I said that this was poor customer service, they asked us to leave and threatened to call the police??!! What on earth? Manners matter.
