We stumbled upon The Dakota Cuban during a quick stop in Chamberlain and were absolutely blown away. This family-owned Mexican restaurant with Cuban and Native roots is truly something special. The place is chic, cozy and a sparkling clean setup that instantly makes you feel welcome. We ordered the wet burrito and the wet burrito bowl, and both dishes were bursting with bold, authentic flavors. Their spicy salsa is not for the faint-hearted, but if you love heat, it’s truly to die for. And the margaritas? Absolutely fantastic - well-balanced and refreshing. What made the experience even more memorable was the people. Every single person we met was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They chatted with us, and one of the daughters held our baby so we could enjoy our meal. That kind of genuine kindness is rare and so appreciated. We loved hearing how the entire family, including the parents, children, and even the son-in-law, all work together. That warmth and hospitality shine through every interaction. They say the heart of the country hides some of the best treasures, and we certainly found one here. If you’re ever passing through Chamberlain, don’t miss The Dakota Cuban. My husband and I FINALLY got to try this place out and it was so worth the wait!!! It’s a testament to the family and employees who set the tone for their business when even all the other customers there at the same time as us were kind, conversational, and happy! Amazing atmosphere and just the thing needed in the area! My husband and I got the nachos and a wet burrito, my parents who joined us later got the Cuban and tacos and there wasn’t one thing I’d change about any of it! I’m a picky eater myself but I got all the toppings and (although nervous) trusted the process and was not disappointed, it was easily some of the best food we’ve had in a long time. Aaaand don’t even get me started about the drinks!! My mom and I agreed it was hands down the best piña colada we’d ever had 20/10. For the folks of chamberlain and surrounding areas, and all those visitors traveling across the state of South Dakota whose only options before were gas station food or if you’re lucky a McDonald’s right off the exit, this is now the best place and a must stop for speedy amazing food on your roadtrip, I can’t...

Cubano sandwich. She's not the prettiest, but boy was that delicious! Juicy pork, hidden pickles and cheese. Every bite was well received. It's goooood ✨ the taco is beautifully crafted. Survived a box and still looks beautiful 🤩 Steak was marinated, fresh onions and cilantro. It was a full taco, not a skimpy bite of meat! I love the location, very inviting on the inside with family pictures and bright accent colors. Great color choices for a wonderful place. Service was speedy and consistent from what I saw.
