Wow. What can I say? Let's start with the food. Eggs Benny came with a chunky hollandaise sauce and zero flavor. For 13 bucks it came with one sad side that came out a good 5-10 minutes before my eggs and still wasn't warm. A waitress from another table had to come and bring us refills on the coffee because she didn't even notice when all 4 cups were empty. Had to drink down the overheated burnt coffee before adding milk and sugar because they were filled to the brim. Everyone's food was overcooked and so tasteless that we almost emptied the salt and pepper while grabbing sauce packets from our cars to get some flavor in our breakfast.
And the waitress, Erica. Wow. This woman does NOT belong in any kind of customer service!! She was VERY short with us and yelled the whole time. We had to pause all of our conversations while she was cleaning off tables around us while she was literally throwing cups and plates into the bin and it was very loud and obnoxious. Her constant running made us and other customers feel very rushed even while it took a very long time for our food to come out. After the bill was brought out we sat there with cards on the table to pay for at least 10 minutes with no sight of Erica before we asked another waitress to cash us out. We tried to express to the waitress that the boys were tired from camping when the boys were struggling to order not knowing the menu, she sharply replied with "well we have been busy all morning so I know all about tired" as she continued rushing the boys orders.
From beginning to end the whole experience was disappointing. The food was overpriced, overcooked and tasteless. The service was abrupt, rude and not timely at all. With summer camp right around the corner we will definitely not be stopping in again. I would rather eat McDonald's. Definitely would not recommend to anyone else, especially other parents of campers.
Maybe Erica should look into a job that she doesn't have to deal with the public, this definitely didn't seem to be something she particularly...
Read moreA few years ago, I owned a small business that often took me down Route 32, where I always noticed the sign for Blondie’s Diner. I never got the chance to stop in before selling the business, but after a 6-mile walk with my godfather, he suggested we try a new restaurant that had transformed during COVID. To my surprise, it turned out to be the sister location to Blondie’s!
From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted and invited to sit wherever we liked on the left side of the building. The diner has two large dining rooms, making it a great spot for groups, though I can see it getting busy on weekends. Fortunately, we arrived on a Wednesday around 11:30 AM and had no wait.
Their menu is extensive, with breakfast served all day—always a plus. I ordered the Country Benny, which came with two southern biscuits, turkey sausage, poached eggs, and a rich, flavorful meat gravy. I also had a side of hashbrowns and a black coffee. Everything was delicious! The eggs were perfectly runny, the biscuits were light and fluffy, and the flavors blended beautifully. The coffee was great, and our server was quick with refills.
One of the highlights was reading the history inside the menu, detailing how Blondie started her first location in Willimantic and grew it into multiple locations. It’s clear that the woman behind these restaurants is doing something special. If you’re in the area, this is a place you definitely need...
Read moreWent there twice and the food was terrible. Once got a reuben with scant meat and a greasy mess. The past owners made the most delicious sandwiches. 2nd time I went for a BLT and got back a sandwich that looked like the cook took a spatuler of congealed grease and slapped it on. Not even eatable. Told the waitress and she could care less. After a year at the insistance of a friend I went back to try again. Everything I tried to order (3) the waitress kept coming back saying they couldn't make it. Finally settled on scrambled eggs and gravy. Mediocre at best. It's such a shame, I use to go there for 50 years on fishing trips staying at Nickerson's campground. Never again. The ratings I noticed are weeded out to falsly portray a good impression as my past ratings "DISSAPEARED". Says alot about lying google and the...
