Hardee’s — Restaurant in Charleston

WARNING:::: Last week on our way out of town we stopped and picked up food. 2 of our drinks had CLEARLY had DETERGENT IN THEM. The entire order was wrong, drinks were wrong. I called the manager who "assured me" that no detergent was in our drinks BUT it was sitting on the counter when we came through the drive thru. There is no way to assure a customer that an employee did not do something to the drinks when the manager was not observing carefully. The drinks were clearly doused with a cleaner- 2 drinks were coke and 2 smelled of detergent/sanitizer and tasted of it. I took a big drink of what I expected to be a cherry coke only to get a mouth full of cleaning detergent - the burn, the taste, and the smell confirmed that cleaner was indeed in our drinks. I smelled my drink and then all 4 of them; 2 were clearly sabotaged with a detergent product. We tossed the food and the drinks - we will never return. The manager did not care nor show concern for this issue. Anyone who has used a product to clean with can identify a cleaner. This has become a concern in many establishments with the vicious attacks on customers...

The one thing that stood out that would have made it a better experience- the Cherry Coke did not flow from their machines. I presume it is a very popular drink there as it was tapped before our arrival. The staff was on point doing their job as well as giving good feedback to our ordering. Friendly smiles as well as acknowledgement that what we were getting sounded delicious was a welcome addition to service. And then the surprise on top of it all...they brought our order to us after calling our number to let us know it was done. Good thing that sign caught our attention as we were driving on the 77 north. A right and then a right to some good food and well respected service. Also, they are one of the few fast food places that has a mushroom Swiss burger....and that is always a plus...

Picked up an app order today on my way out of town. Ordered 3 cherry cokes and 1 reg. Coke. No idea what they did but 2 clearly had a detergent/sanitizer mixed into the drink, and 2 regular cokes. Called the store, manager assured me no detergent was put in our cokes. Well, I can smell and taste the detergent so I'm sure there was something NOT cola syrup, or carbonation that has been added. Cleaning solutions have clear smells and tastes. It is a shame that we can no longer trust a restaurant to safely prepare foods or even safely fill a drink cup. The sanitizer bottle was sitting on the counter at the drive thru - anyone could have tainted our drinks without the manager being aware. Very sad and very concerning. Be aware, check your children's...
