K&S Pizza — Restaurant in Charlestown

2025 Edit: I appreciated the calmly measured response to my older review and decided to come back. We tried the new Detroit-style pizza and got one of salads and the quality has VASTLY improved. The Detroit pie was wicked good, nice and fluffy. The salad greens were fresh and it was stuffed to the brim with veggies, cheese and bacon. We had zero leftovers. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more things, if the quality keeps up I'll bump my review up to 5 stars.

The bad:

We used to really enjoy the salads specifically, but as of late the quality of the greens has been poor. and the pizza crust has been bland and cardboard-y. The last few times I ordered salad most of the greens have been wilted.

We have had a few orders get lost in translation (ingredients missing, order items not included when we pick up the food, etc.).

The good:

The little sitting area with picnic tables outside is very nice and the staff is extremely friendly. The younger man who manages the restaurant is lovely and they used to use (or at least advertise the use of) local products. It's great to have a local restaurant in the Carolina area as it is lacking in similar businesses.

Overall:

Unfortunately I think that this pizza shop has struggled to regain quality since the pandemic. I understand the staffing challenges and struggles that come with the territory, but the quality has been sliding to the point where I'm finding it harder to justify spending the money. I want to give these folks the benefit of the doubt, and I want to support local small business because the heart is there and there's lots of potential, but for the time being I cannot rate the food quality higher than...

I went to K&S Friday night to get a Grindr and it was not made right . I had to wait for them to made it again I was there almost a hour . they did not offer me anything for the mess up and the long wait time but they gave the Grindr they messed up to another customer for free with out caring about the customer that's been waiting an hour I don't think that is how you treat your customer . so we will not be going back twice a week like we did before we will not be back at all. They need to work on customer service big time . k&S did reach out to me a day or two after I posted this and they made good for there mistake and I now feel they do care about there customers more then you may think and I have been back and will go back again. I have been going to a different pizza place closer to where I live . my wife and I was driving on rt 112 on Tuesday 4/18 so we decided to stop at K&S and get some lunch. My wife ordered blt wrap onion rings and a cheeseburger grinder for myself. My wife was able to salvage her BLT onion rings we had to throw out they weren't even cooked it was like eating applesauce. I've been going to this pizza place for many years. Until tonight. When I went to pick up my order, I was surprised to receive a Greek salad when I know I ordered an antipasta salad. When I questioned it, I was immediately told by an very aggressive young blonde woman that I ordered a Greek salad with Greek dressing. Uh, I'm pretty I know what I ordered (been doing this my whole life), and that I never specified a dressing with an antipasta salad. She was so rude that I politely refused a remake of the salad, because I'm pretty sure it would have been violated by this woman, and I sure don't want that. What an unbelievably rude bi@ch.
