This restaurant had been suggested to me because I really like homemade, country style cooking. As I grew up cooking in restaurants and have been to culinary school as well. I didn't realize that they closed at 2, as we arrived right around that time. We were assured that it wasn't an issue and allowed us to order lunch. Most of the lunch specials listed on the whiteboard were already gone. Although they did have some chicken-fried steak left, which I ordered. Along with cabbage, mashed potatoes and gravy. This was served with rolls and sweet tea. A friend of mine ordered the double burger and fries. In addition, we placed a to go order for a double-cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, onions and fries. The cabbage on my plate was good. The burgers looked really good, except for the small portions of crinkle-cut fries that accompanied the burgers. I was told that the to go order was very good. I've cooked and worked in all manner of restaurants; from greasy spoons, up to and including, black-tie, with white linen, candlelight dining and tableside service. Even when training the waitstaff and/or the bartender's, I will constantly remind them that they are the best representatives of the restaurant. The customer's first impression that they leave with them, will be a lasting impression of their dining experience. Whether you are having a good day, or a bad day, you leave those issues at home, or outside before coming to work. The prices at Chuck's Grill were very reasonable. I was greatly appreciative of the fact that they served us and tipped over 30% for the inconvenience of us arriving at closing time. As I said, I worked in the industry. The gentleman behind the counter that was fixing our plate's, was far and away more pleasant than the lady on the floor. The biggest issue that I had was with the lady who was taking our orders and then serving us. She was absolutely borderline rude. Speaking to us in a flat monotone, with a strong air of distaste, plainly etched across her face. This will be the first, last and only time that I will visit this particular restaurant/establishment. If you took the time to read this review, please take a 1/2 second and click...

Chuck"s Grill, what can I say first of all it's a little side road old school shack, don't mean any disrespect, it take you back when it was the only little place in town to get something to eat , very small it had maybe 6 large tables and maybe 4 small ones, it's a little community place where they know most of the customers by name If you want to wait for 35 mins for brkfst or longer, I went for the brkfst first time my last time .People seem to like the fact it's cheap, 2 eggs choice of meats get 2, French toast, and only reg coffee no decafe, all for around $5.00. It just remind me of a little grease spoon of a place, My friend took me there and she seem to like it, it's not a place that I'd return to, and you may have to sit with someone you don't know and there is nothing wrong with that as I said your sitting on one another already, yes to close for comfort for me ,we were at a table against a wall suppose to be for 2 but really it should of been for one person, 2 young men seen us sitting there looking very Uncomfortable and they were being seated at a lg table , and offered us that one which...

Me and my family have been coming to eat here for over 15 years & no matter how many weeks/ months go by they never forget my face & what I usually get. It’s the best breakfast diner in the Charlotte area in my opinion & im a very picky person, the vibe when you walk in is immaculate and i haven’t been able to find another family restaurant that feels or cooks the same as chucks does & I worked as a waitress in a family restaurant for 3 years, and still never felt as welcomed as chucks makes me feel. They are one of my favorite morning diners to get food at & even lunch cause they don’t close until 2. If you’re looking for a fresh home cooked breakfast/lunch with a family friendly atmosphere this is the best place in Charlotte to eat at! Not to mention their prices aren’t thru the roof for a decent meal, it’s old fashioned and under rated, a hidden gem that more people need to experience. It gives midnight diners breakfast taste without the over priced food & downtown commotion. They always brighten my mood EVERYTIME I walk in the door & they NEVER disappoint with what comes off the grill, always fresh, hot,...

Chuck’s holds a cherished spot in our hearts, nestled in a vintage diner setting where the owners still personally prepare meals, continuing a longstanding family tradition. It’s a place where you’ll often bump into neighbors sharing breakfast. While some aspects have evolved, like ordering at the counter instead of being served, and the introduction of plastic plates, cups, and silverware, the essence remains unchanged. Serving up Southern soul food with flavors that are subtly seasoned and delightfully light on grease, dining at Chuck’s offers a nostalgic yet refreshing experience. I extend a warm invitation to partake in the time-honored traditions of Charlotte at this beloved establishment.

We came for breakfast at a busy time so I can't knock them for the service being a little slow. Seems like a family ran place, all of them are really nice. I'm from Long Island NY, and weekend diner breakfast is one of the basic food groups for me. Trust me when I say the food was excellent. However I can't understand how they make money with these prices! Breakfast and soda for 3 was $20. Don't be thrown off by the look of the place
