Today was our first visit to island flavors. However after tasing the curry goat which was extremely salty. I was disappointed. It was so salty all you taste was pepper and salt, not so much the curry. The salt overpowered it.I called the restaurant and spoke with Niecey who said she was the manager. Explained to her the problem, she replied that I would get 10% off of my next order????? I suggested to Niecey that she run and taste the goat herself in which she did. When she came back to the phone she was in agreement with me that it was extremely salty. After trying to find resolve with Niecey. I asked for the owner and was denied the opportunity to speak with him or her. She said that the owner wouldn’t speak with me or give me a refund after she agreed that the food was extremely salty. The attitude was as a matter of fact. I have your money and you get what you get. Now I don’t live in close proximity of the restaurant so this is an inconvenience. Wow your own people. Try to support and get treated like your money doesn’t matter. Highly disappointed in this establishment. Do better for the...
Read moreOk so I have eaten here off and on for two years. This place has the best Jamaican food in Charlotte. Disclaimers: I am an ackee and salt fish connoisseur, and this place has the best outside of New York. I don’t eat oxtails so I can’t comment on that. I love their Rasta pasta and the shrimp Alfredo is good too. Make sure to try the sweet potato cornbread , it’s the best I leave ever had, tell them to warm it for you as well. All of their portions are huge and I never get disappointed. I order online because they do have deals sometimes that they do not advertise when you order in person. In these days everyone is a critic so I have read reviews about the wait, but that can happen on the weekends at any popular place , it’s like what do you expect. Also I like trini food and they are the only place with chickpeas in the city. And most places only serve ackee for breakfast , but they serve it all day. They also have a lot of vegetarian options. The only con is that the shopping center where they are located is small and parking...
Read moreLet me start by saying the food does not disappoint at this restaurant. The rice & Peas taste like authentic Jamaican cuisine like when in Montego Bay, Jamaica. I'm vegan so I can't vouch for any meat dishes with curry or jerk, but the chickpea curry is quite tasty and is coconut milk based. You can order it spicy upon request which adds the best flavor in my opinion. I can eat the spinach patties all day. They are delicious. The cabbage and greens are okay. I've referred others to order at a conference in Charlotte and they loved the curry and Jerk chicken.
I've only ordered via doordash, but I'm a frequent shopper. The only thing I dislike is that often I have to remove meat pieces from my rice which is annoying 😒 since I'm vegan but I am conscious of it when I order now. I understand sometimes meat pieces might fall in when scooping up other dishes by it so I'm not extremely concerned since I know it wasn't cooked with meat.
I would highly recommend...
