Original Chicken & Ribs — Restaurant in Charlotte

Walked in & greeted nicely by a young cashier . She was eating an orange at the register like that’s appropriate. Ordered my meal Fat boy & chicken wings. Got home the burger was extremely dry (definitely not made fresh to order)& the crinkle fries were dried out definitely re- dropped fries from under the heat lamp. I worked in a restaurant for over 20 years & went to culinary school as well & definitely know the despicable tricks of the trade. The wings weren’t anything special either. They were edible only because I was hungry , spent a small fortune ,& wasn’t going home to cook. I love my black owned businesses but just like commercialized franchises they too are losing their passion to deliver good hot food. There is no passion involved , it’s all about spending top $ for a mediocre product. The best part of the meal was a dinner roll & a mixed beverage of grape, fruit punch ,& lemonade . I definitely will NOT be patronizing this staple in the community again. Money takes time to come by & I will be spending mines at an eatery that cares about delivering hot , fresh yumminess to its guests. I noticed this spot because I have to pass it on my way to campus & it seemed like a real mom & pop restaurant so I was really eager to try it. It’s a very small restaurant, the ordering area can maybe hold 6 people comfortably. There is outside seating that seem like it could be very cozy on a good weather day. I ordered a Rib & Wing dinner combination. You could choice between Pork or beef ribs, light meat, dark meat or 3 wings! I chose the pork ribs & 3 wings with my sauce on the side. For the side I had French fries & collard greens! I love the crinkled cut fries and how they were seasoned. The collard greens didn’t have enough unique flavor for my liking but they were not bad. The chicken wings were good & the ribs were nice & meaty. I tried the homemade lemonade & it was perfect. I have tasted nice sweet lemonade that good in along time. Best fried chicken!!!! This place is pickup only and I always call to place my order. If line busy just wait or go and order in person. The food is ALWAYS fresh I’ve never got cold or old food over the years of going here. The chicken is seasoned and fried to perfection. I also LOVE the jumbo shrimp they have so good! The sides are great the only thing I wouldn’t order again is the greens they have sugar in them. Im not a fan of sugary/sweet collards but if you are then give them a try. Poundcake is dry and also I don’t eat pork anymore but hands down they have the BEST pork chop sandwich in Charlotte!!! Have to try this place for yourself.

Recent visit-

Stopped to get a pork chop sandwich for mom she said it was great and fried perfectly. Rib snack for my nephew with a salad he loved the ribs and BBQ sauce. Salad was very fresh. Lots of items to choose from on there menu. I loved this place before going vegan.
