Gasthaus Bar & Grille — Restaurant in Cherokee

Today was a very disappointing experience. I did not enjoy the crispy (flattened) chicken breast I ordered nor the not fully cooked fries, nor the very insulting response I received when our waitress finally returned to simply gather our plates and ask if we needed anything else. My mother and sister were in town to visit, as they do every month or so, driving an hour and 20 minutes to Cherokee. When I explained that my meal was disappointing, the waitress returned with an offer of $5 off. I asked if she had seen my plate, she stated of course, I also was informed you do this all the time. Confused, shocked, and insulted I explained that the only time I eat in Gausthaus is when my mother is in town. I asked who said that and she stated she could not tell me. I did ask the other waitress and she stated I didn't say all the time. This all happened during the lunch hour. #1. At food prices at an all time high why would ANYONE pay for sub-par food? #2. The accusation of complaining all the time, which has never happened btw, was not only hurtful but a complete and utter LIE. #3. I want to know when the Gausthaus started treating people like trash. Those waitresses lost out on good tips because I used to order TO GO and complained once when my $30 steak was over cooked. If I'm that much of a "nuisance" then I'll spare them from my presence, my referrals,...

The atmosphere is pretty cool, neat signs all over to check out. You might feel rushed to order, but once you do, you won't be sorry! The food is absolutely amazing! 💯 I ordered the Cowboy burger and he had the ribeye both were juicy and yummy! I would say the best burger (not smash burger) I've had! As we sat for a few good drinks and waited for our food everything that went past us looked just as good, will definitely be back. With few places to choose from in cherokee this is for sure a treasure!!! 😃

Stopped in last night for Prime Rib night, not impressed my other half had the chefs cut and I had the the classic cut. We both had one bite and decided you need scissors to even cut this thing. Very bad cut of meat and full of gristle. We had been talking about it all week as we are usual off the road by fridays so it was a nice treat to look forward to but Sadly at the price you pay it didn't pay off. Stick to a burger and you won't go wrong. Sheila was our waitress and she was Grrreat! I will say they have a killer broccoli...

Love LOVE this place. Great for a Saturday night of Prime Rib and a cold Guinness. The decor is full of local history and the staff is awesome.

Update 02//19/22 Dropped the rating to Four Stars. Still a neat place to go and eat and the staff were wonderful. However, the food served wasn't the greatest. The onions on my wife's sandwich were barely cooked, my son's steak was rare to medium rare when it should have been medium. The staff did take it back but upon return it was still not right. My sandwich barely had any meat on it and the fries were a little undercooked. I am sure this may have been an off night and I stress the waitress we had was wonderful. We will be back again and hopefully I will raise the rating back...
