I had one in the top five lattes Iāve ever had in my life made here for me last week the week of August 1. It cheered me up because Iād met with a man who was selling an item that was not all all what he advertised it to be and I drove 100 miles in 4 1/2 hours round-trip and the man yelled at me when I didnāt buy his item. He lived down at the coast in a very swanky house. He talked about how much time he wasted, waiting for me, and never once apologized for advertising something that was not what he advertised at all. He didnāt seem to care at all that I spent many hours driving to pick up an antique that wasnāt in any way what he advertised and the provenance that he gave for it turned out to be apocryphal . I just happen to know the difference when I got there ! Anyways, the coffee at the Paisley alone cheered me up. I really mean it. It was one of the top five lattes Iāve ever had. They use a special espresso roast that they donāt sell to the public so get a latte when youāre there or an Americano. Also, they did a nice job for me because the coffee that was for For Sale to take home had roast dates that were about five months ago, and I asked for some fresher one in the woman behind the counter and got the boss who went and got me some freshly roasted coffee to take home. So definitely go there youāll like it. There is a ramp to get in, but I wouldnāt really call it handicap accessible per se. Itās more accessible for somebody who just has some mobility challenges, but not a lot. I didnāt buy any food so I canāt rate the food. If you want a great latte go here. in fact, itās the best cup of coffee Iāve made for me on the East Coast, with the exception of Ipsento latte that was made for me once and that probably doesnāt count because the flavor of the coffee doesnāt blow through it. Itās a delicious drink, but this really was the best cuppa coffee Iāve ever had made on the East Coast. Of course Iāve had some very blessed cups of coffee made for me very kindly when Iāve been exhausted and weary from traveling from cheerful barista at many places who took pity on a tired person and made them a fresh cup. With the many workers at McDonaldās when I ask, is the coffee fresh who offered to make a fresh pot count just as much as this cuppa coffee and I thank all of them. What Iām talking about is the technical quality of the cup I had. I brought home some of their ādark roastā blend coffee and itās very good. At least my taste. I know I know all the comments about dark roast but hey, I like it when itās done well. My outlook on coffee is the same as wine. I donāt know anything about it and donāt ever expect to, but I know what I like. Thankyou to everyone whoās ever made me a hot, welcome, fresh, proper cup of coffee, with a caring smile, at home or in public anywhere anytime. This is really a five star review, but I think to go five stars Iād have to try some of the food and also maybe if it was more accessible for people with...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI can't speak for the breakfast, but our experience having sandwiches there made us feel like the UNWANTED STEPCHILDREN, foodwise. Yes, the place is cutesy, staff friendly and helpful. But the food is WAY overpriced. VEGETARIANS BEWARE: We ordered two sandwiches with cheese and some lettuce filling. We don't eat meat so you get charged the same for a sandwich with less filling - they WON'T subsitute a bit extra cheese for the meat and they only give ONE THIN SLICE of cheese in the sandwich so we ended up with bread and lettuce and a bare amount of cheese. I got a side of homefries (cold, tough indedible had to throw them away and I HATE wasting food. You have to really go some to get me to throw away food) and the grand total without beverages was 24.00 USD for this! For a few dollars I could have made overstuffed sandwiches on basically the same quality bread and brought a picnic to the riverside for free. So I can't even say the atmosphere justifies the cost.
I bake bread so I am suspicious the bread at this place isn't homemade. It doesn't have that hearty taste and texture that homemade bread does, so the cost doesn't even justify the supermarket bakery quality of the bread. If it is homemade, I'd be surprised.
I'm not a foodie either, so I don't always fuss, as you can see from my other reviews. It's the chintziness of the fillings and the cost that gave this place an overall bad feeling. Won't return and won't recommend it to anyone else. I don't mean offense to people who are gushing about the food but I don't know what their taste buds were perceiving. Maybe they have bad food at home so in comparison this place...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis is a wonderful place for ice cream, pastries, coffees, bagels, lunches. The amounts are generous and the ingredients are the freshest! It's a touch pricey, but it's in a remote location and again, it's SOOOOO worth the freshness & varieties. Sandwiches are thick, lettuce is fresh, several bread choices. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. They could consider taking out the larger round table and putting in 2 or 3 smaller tables. If a larger party goes in they could always move 2 tables together. Just a suggestion to accommodate more seaters in the winter. In the summer they have outdoor seating all looking over a beautiful river. Don't forget to visit the fabulous Antique store one street up/across the river, though whether they'll be open (wonderful Antique Shop) has been...
