I was there to meet some friends for a cigar. I will preface my review, by noting that I am not a bar guy. I don't enjoy the extra loud whatever. However, with that in mind, I will say I liked The Bush. It was clean, well lighted, and the service seemed very good. I came in and my friends hadn't eaten yet, so I sat at their table. The TV's were on, though I didn't hear them. Music was playing, and it seemed loud, as did the din of multiple conversations. Like I said, I'm not a bar guy. When the food was served, it was well played, and the fries I sampled, were tasty, though could have been crispier. Waiter's fault or cooks? I don't know. All the food served looked delicious, and my friends seemed to be impressed. I did like the wood tables, set up, and basic layout of the dining experience. I will go back to sample their wares, and report back. As we were venting outside for our smoke, I stopped a waiter to request a drink. Much to my chagrin, he knew not of a Tawny Port. Instead of going into detail, or going to the bar myself, I just ordered a Elijah Craig bourbon, neat. The kid looked surprised for some reason, but at least he understood that one. The outdoor seating was nice. I could see their outdoor area was trying to accommodate several things, with a tiki bar, covered tables and an open area, as well as grass for Cornhole, and other stuff. The tables were nicely strung against the wall of the restaurant, and had a heater or two for when the nights cooled. The metal barstools weren't the most comfortable for some bigger guys, but I had no problem with them. It was a nice area for a cigar, and the decor was not only picturesque, but loaded with conversation pieces. I complemented the owner on that one. Do you recap, I love this restaurant being very close to the freeway. It is nicely laid out, I love the wood as opposed to marble and steel and white paint. The servers were very pleasant, and not too slow, though it did take this guy 2-3 trips for my son's second drink. I mean, he came out, but plumb forgot it. The outdoor atmosphere was also nice. And the fries were tasty, but could have been served crispier. Like I said, I'll have to come back and order food to get the full effect. If definitely go back, despite my personal reservations on bars....
Read moreSugarbush Tavern has a turkey dinner on their sunday menu to die for. It's so good we would normally come here a couple times a month, mostly after church. So everyone please go check it out. But call ahead to make sure they are serving it. I would give you guys a 5 star but recently your service has gone downhill. Let me explain. My brother lives in a senior community in Mt Clemens and doesn't cook or get out much. So he wanted to go to Sugarbush around thanksgiving for their homemade turkey dinner we talked so highly about. Three of us get there around 1:00 to have it just to find out that the hours they serve it has changed. Now they start serving it at 3pm instead of noon. Their explanation "we run out to early so we decided to serve it later". Disappointed but okay we will bring him back another time. Now Christmas time is here and we wanted to take him out and try it again? NOPE. I called Sugarbush earlier in the week and asked if they were serving their turkey dinner on sunday, Christmas eve? The lady put me on hold to ask, came back and said "yep after 3pm". GREAT. Christmas eve we picked up my brother again and this time in a snow storm. We got there at 4:30 ordered 3 turkey dinners and the waitress apologized said because of the smaller crouds they werent serving it today and wont be serving it on sunday new years eve also. What a disappointment, "again". Then when we went to the restroom you could hear staff members walking around in the back hallway saying the F word like it was in their everyday language. Sugarbush management, we heard about your turkey dinner from our church friends that also came here after church. My brothers first few times didnt leave a good first impression, and the language of your staff was unacceptable. My advice, if Wal-Mart sells out of something they stalk more or people will buy it somewhere else, if you have a great menu item make more or people will go somewhere else? Simple. We've never had an issue until lately. We love your food but I believe your service has gone downhill in a very short time. Please fix these issues or I hate to say it but we will have to find somewhere else to eat...
Read moreDawn! Need I say more? I don't think I've ever had a server give me a password as quickly and kindly as Dawn did-its usually a shrug or a nod in the direction of the #sign. I wanted to look something up, and when she hit me with it's #allaboutthebush, I cracked up. I had to thank her for that because it really made my day. We had mutual interests, and chatted for a bit, and she was so patient. My friend is a regular, and recommended the perch, so we went with that. He ordered the dinner (5pc), I got the lunch (3pc), both sauteed. His meal Included the lobster this when it came to the table, he asked me right away if I wanted to try it. Well, of course, I did...and it was absolutely out of this world! Just the best lobster bisque I have ever had. Lots of lobster. So, again, Dawn, who was never far away, came over and immediately got the order taken care of and brought me my soup in less time than it takes to say, "No soup for you!". This was a #FirstEncounterOfTheDateKind, and we were there awhile. We never felt rushed, drinks were refreshed promptly, orders delivered quickly, and all in all a 5☆ experience. The red skin taters were a nice add to the dinner. Now... one thing reviewers don't like: having to give feedback on a dish they're not particularly fond of...as a Michigander, I've been a #PerchAndPickerel fan forever. I've never had perch sauteed. I won't again. It def needed SOMETHING spicewise. I tried drowning it in lemon to no avail. I don't "do" tartar sauce, so that's on me. I do limited gluten, BUT, since the perch is a fave, I would def try it the next time, but breaded and fried. No shade! It was such a pleasant experience (Dawn, again) I'ma ask my dance buddies from the Community Center why no one ever mentioned it! I'm flumoxxed, but full🎣🍲🦞. Thanks for a gr8 dining experience. ☆☆☆☆☆ This place is VERY family friendly. Lots of incredibly well mannered children- way to go parents! There's corn hole and horse shoes outside, too. Oh, in case you forget the WiFi PW, look at...
