Overall, it’s reasonably priced, acceptable quality, and will suit my deer hunting needs. Pre-hunt set-up recommended. This item is HEAVY when packed in (moderate quality) carrying case (44 lbs on my scale). Has separate slots for the chairs which is nice. Unpacking and assembly was simple and straight forward for a pop-up. Pull up the TOP first, then the sides. Ground stakes are thin but work for my needs. If you’re on sand or very hard, rocky ground, get bigger stakes. Chairs are okay but one was missing seatback screw (left side in chair pic). Disappointing but easily resolved. Not real comfortable for long sits but will do. I noticed MANY pin-holes along stitching seams. Most leaked during overnight rain (see daylight pin holes-lots of em!). Purchased Water Repellant Spray AND Seam Sealer which appears to have resolved leaks, for now. A couple window slides were not on their guides. Again, easily fixed but window track design is a bit janky. Overextending the windows when opening/closing can overrun the plastic tube guide ends. I put a “bubble” of silicone (like for exterior windows and doors) at ends of each slide tube preventing window guides from sliding off track. The window mesh hooks to cloth loops on three sides. Operation of all windows and mesh are silent, unlike Velcro or zippers! I’m 5’ 8”, 170 lbs, my son is 6’ 2” and 215 lbs. Keep chairs folded until inside. I can step through the door with rifle and small hunting pack without issue. Son, not so lucky. Once in, with chairs unfolded and placed at back corners (by door), there’s reasonable space and good vision when sitting. Folding the chairs prior to entering/exiting makes movement manageable. I can stand up in this thing. Son must crouch a bit. Kick-Outs and side storage nets are nice, allowing foot room and uncluttered floor. BTW: the floor is the ground, no bottom tarp. Disassembly is also straight forward starting with the TOP first, then the sides. Fitting blind and chairs back into the carrying case is challenging. We’ll just throw all that in the SxS bed and deal with it once home. I can’t intelligently speak to durability at this point but if I get a couple years out of it I’ll be happy. Four Stars due to manufacturing quality concerns noted but still good value for the $$$,...
Read moreThis review isn’t about a specific Cabela’s store but about an ordeal I had with an online order. I ordered a pair of boots from Cabela’s with 2 day shipping. The whole reason I ordered them was because they could meet a delivery date I needed in order to continue to work (my company requires us to use safety shoes) I do not drive so I ordered them shipped to my house with the guaranteed 2 day delivery. The boots had not arrived in that window so I tracked the order. According to the company that Cabela’s uses the only thing that had been done with my order was a label was created. I contacted Cabela’s customer service to hopefully resolve the matter (spoiler didn’t happen) they tried to offer me a $20 gift card and a $40 gift card, which is nice, but only a couple problems. Because of their delay I will not have the boots for around another 2-5 days is what I was told, without the boots I can’t work. I can’t afford another pair as I spent what little extra I had to purchase these ones. So now I will be missing 3 days of work but possibly up to 6 which is going to cost me quite a bit of money, as a single father/provider of 5 children things can be somewhat tight, this obviously makes things tighter, again the gift cards are a nice idea, but I never plan on shopping with Cabela’s again as this was my first experience with them and hasn’t been the best of them. The customer service rep did do her best to try to rectify the situation but unfortunately all the options were gift cards or would end up costing me more money. If they had just been honest about their shipping I would have gone somewhere else, yes they would have lost a $160 sale (a minor drop in the bucket) but there’s definitely a chance I would still shop their and I definitely wouldn’t be writing this review. I was told that someone from their upper management would contact me, I don’t believe it but we’ll see and I will update accordingly. Thanks for taking the...
Read moreLarge selection for the outdoors. I primarily visit the gun counter and the Santa visits with the family (very cool event). So keep those in mind in terms of my review.
Overall I like this location and recommend it. Store is clean and well kept. Random staff say hi or offer help. You’ll just need to have some patience. If your visit is time critical, visit when they open in the morning or call ahead to see if the store is super busy or not.
They will always ask you if you have a club card or not, that’s store policy. The vacation people are on a different level with trying to get you to sign up for something. Wish they would tone it down a notch.
My only gripe is the wait time experience. I do understand the nature of retail with being short handed at times, etc.
A recommendation for the gun counter: it’s understandable that running background checks is time consuming and detail oriented, but perhaps having another employee or two handle general questions and greeting people could help. I think for the most part reasonable people don’t mind waiting, but being acknowledged and treated like a person is very valued. Maybe outfitters can be split for people ready to buy versus people on the fence needing questions answered or just browsing, then moved to the ready to purchase queue if the ends up developing.
Maybe a pre-designated area to pre fill purchase background check information and when they receive help and ready to purchase a team member would be able to pull up that information, review it with the guest, then proceed to finalize and wait for the approval. That way the guest is occupied with filling out something that they would be required to do anyways. Could help control flow.
This is just my opinion, but it has been my experience a majority of the time. If certain staff is present that know me they say hi and apologize for the wait, I think that’s what the general population is looking for. The...
