Up In Smoke Bar-B-Que — Restaurant in Chino Valley

This place has gone down hill since this place has changed hands. I have been ordering food from this establishment for a very long time .

Friday 7/28 at 5:30 I called to order 3 salads. The woman who answered the phone sounded annoyed that someone was calling in an order, her tone was very rude and she refused to listen to what I was ordering and continued to interrupt me when I was talking.

I said I would like to order 3 salads. 1 blue cheese with crispy chicken and she said so you want 3 blue cheese salads? I said no, continued to tell her my order. She said let me see if we have any crispy chicken. Yea we have some left. I continued with my order and I asked her to repeat the order and it was incorrect.

When I was trying to tell her my order I was trying to be precise and clear and giving her time to write the order down. She was talking over me and not listening, she kept saying will that be all for you and was very rude.

When I explained that the order was incorrect she became irritated and was very snotty and rude and said, “Well excuse me ! I must of heard you wrong ! “ She cut me off and I didn’t even get to finish my order!

When I arrived, there were two people inside eating , only three people outside and a couple in front of me about to order and just one person (the girl who took the order) at the register and one person in the kitchen, who just came in from the back door.

There flies flying around everywhere in there and I did not smell any meat smoking or cooking like usual, and there were no other workers anywhere to be seen! There were no workers there that I recognized.

The couple I front of me went to order and the girl taking the order seemed extremely annoyed that she had to take their order. I was paying attention to her body language, and her off putting facial expressions, she seemed to be in a hurry . Her customer service was terrible , I felt uncomfortable for the two people ordering. They ordered and went to sit down.

She asked me what I wanted and I said I’m here to pick an order for 3 salads , she grabbed them and told me how much the total was and I said, I want would also like to order some extra dressings because, you cut me off when I was trying to complete my order with you on the phone. She then looked at me, rolled her eyes like it was the end of the world made this awful face, and I then proceeded to tell her what three dressings I needed for the salads.

The entire time I was nice and cordial to her like I was to her over the phone but by this time with the look that she she gave me and look on her face, I think she could tell that I was about ready to lose my patience with her rudeness, she then tried to apologize that she couldn’t hear me over the phone that’s why she didn’t get the order right the first time which was not the case.

This young lady was so rude. I have never been treated this way by anyone in customer service. I have been ordering the same salads here for a very long time and they have always been very good. I always order a blue cheese salad and two southwestern salads, one with regular ranch and one with chipotle ranch and usually crispy chicken or the tri-tip this time I get home and there is literally no meat on any of the salads! My order was $44 and change I paid for lettuce beans, cheese, and corn!! And then had to deal with a disgruntled, unhappy employee that obviously didn’t want to be there or help anybody she acted as if everyone was bothering her!!

I was really surprised that the restaurant was not packed on a Friday because it usually is people in and out of there bunch of people working you can smell the smoke and food cooking. This was completely the opposite when I went in there this time and I was really disgusted at the service I received, all the flies in there flying around and then to pay as much as I did for three salads and NO MEAT was absolutely ridiculous!!

I will not be back ! You have lost a customer. This was like the only place I’d like to order food from or eat at in Chino Valley and I will never...

First time here. We live closer to Prescott so usually eat there. My wife is vegetarian so I rarely get BBQ. Today we had a dental appt. in Chino so I decided to try Up in Smoke. I ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs - (6) ribs and the potatoes salad to go. The ribs were tasty and tender. Potatoe salad also good. The only complaint I had was the portion and pricing. My wife recently spent 10-weeks in a rehab facility close to Colts BBQ. I ate their baby back ribs twice weekly. Their ribs had more meat on them. The flavor was about the same as U in S. The price was a little less at $16.50 but, there was enough leftover for another meal. Their sweet beans are killer. Their potatoes salad and cole slaw is terrible. Soooo, if in Chino, it's Up in Smoke. If...

First, I want to say how accommodating and friendly…what nice people they are!… they’re checking in on you…hoping you like what they made ….you could say they really put their heart into this business and show great care. I really appreciated that.

I got the beef brisket with a roll and the jalapeño coleslaw along with a side salad with a blue cheese dressing ….this was no bottled blue cheese dressing …it was absolutely wonderful and the gal says she makes it fresh every day and you could certainly tell . The beef brisket was cooked to perfection, and the rolls they served along with it were warm and soft….really wonderful. The barbecue sauce on the table was the sweet heat that I love! Great job...
