Visited 12/27/19, so I'm a bit late with writing this review. Man, if I hadn't have been specifically looking for this place, I'd have never known it was there. Tucked away off I50 in an old industrial area where one would not expect to find a brewery, but the location seems to be working for them. Not much to look at from the outside, but they have a rather large area around the brewery that I assume during warmer months is put to good use. Very nice, clean and spacious inside. Great atmosphere with several large screen tvs, a long bar, and plenty of seating. Staff was very friendly, easy to talk with, and attentive. Plus the place is dog-friendly, and if I can drink beer and pet dogs at the same time, that's a win-win in my book! I had the peanut butter variant of the 1516 Dunkel, (which is the first I've ever heard of anyone adding peanut butter to a dunkel), the Winter Warmer, and the Rail & River Porter. All were very well made and tasty. Definitely a place worth...
Read more*Photos to come I stopped in for a quick beer while waiting for food and I was blown away!
This was my very first visit to 13 Below and the family and dog friendly atmosphere was incomparable.
I ordered one of their latest brews: LOCK & DAM #37 SCOTCH ALE CURRENTLY ON TAP & IN CANS
Lock & Dam is our Scotch Ale with low to medium hops and a nice malty flavor. It is has a beautiful dark caramel color with high alcohol content, and a great body profile.
CARAVIENNE & BROWN MALTS • EDINBURGH ALE YEAST ABV 6.9% IBU 32
Let me tell you, this was one of the best beers I've had in the city. I don't drink like I used to so I tend to prefer one excellent drink over many subpar drinks. 13 Below blew out my expectations. I can't wait to eat here and bring my dog Teddy!
They have a lovely back yard, just be sure your dog is well trained as this is a family friendly environment. Bad vibes are handled without hesitation.
I can't believe you guys grow your own hops in...
Read moreCame in on Saturday night. Good food from the truck outside. The beer will hopefully get better with experience, pretty homemade/unique for most of the 7 types I tasted. The music really needs to be better managed. It was damage your hearing loud in an irresponsible way. The speakers were loud enough for an outdoor festival, way too much wattage inside of a small concrete room. Seriously, look it up, consult an audio engineer who doesn't have hearing aids, whatever you need to do to figure it out. Also, in my experience when the bar doesn't turn off the lights or TVs behind the band they are supposed to be wallpaper music-not headache loud. Furthermore, the old white men trashing black female performers while they play blues and rock covers is nasty and unpleasant. Finally, if you really do want to have music so loud there can be NO conversation inside, have the courtesy to put a heater on one of your patios. Good luck in the future y'all, plenty of...
