Worst Experience in a long time at a restaurant. For the first five minutes, pretty good. The waiter was friendly and took a drink order. After that, terrible across the board. We order two entrees and an app. 35 minutes later, no food and several tables sat after us received their food. no waiter check in until I stared them down. Then they said our food was next. Ten minutes later, no food. The waiter said "it was because sometimes the kitchen doing things out of order." When the food came out, both dishes (spiced "medium") tasted like nothing. That's not an exageration. It was pork and veggies and tasted like someone cooked some pork with veggies, no seasoning involved. It was listed as a curry but had zero sauce with it. also, we didn't get our app. When I mentioned it, the waiter looked confused and said they would make sure we weren't charged. Thanks for making sure I wasn't charged for food you never gave me. Also, the food was lukewarm. I believe they never put our order in and then rushed it out, underseasoned. We were asked how things were after we had eaten very little and pushed our plates away and my response was only "can we get boxes?" No questions, no interest. Also, no one came to get the check so I walked up to the counter. When they checked me out, they once again made an excuse ("so many people coming and going..."). I am surprised at the reviews. Maybe we had an off-night experience. If so, they should own it and apologize, not blame the kitchen for making too many carry out orders. I will not return and would tell anyone who asked not to go either. Go to Ruthai in Mt....
Read moreThe Budda Barn is located in Saylor Park which is a lovely little community. The interior is tastefully and simply decorated with lots of wood and a few Budda statues. My friend got pineapple cashew shrimp and she said she liked it although the shrimp had their tales so it was rather unpleasant and messy having to pull them all apart. I ordered the chicken with peanut sauce. This was the most bland chicken, vegetables, and peanut sauce I have ever tasted. I ordered a level six spice, it was definitely a zero. The Jif peanut butter in my kitchen cupboard has more flavor. Plus the sauce came on the side in a tiny saucer about two inches in diameter and a quarter inch deep. I requested extra and a second saucer was brought out. Unfortunately that didn't help. I frequent Thai Nam Tip where a full cup of very flavorful sauce is always provided. I asked if they had a spice tray and the waiter brought out two more little saucers, one with chili garlic sauce and the other with a generic hot sauce which helped a bit. The rice was also completely bland and tasted like plain white rice. Unfortunately the price was about 50% higher than other local Thai restaurants. One waiter took care of everyone and he did a good job! Overall between the bland food, tails on the shrimp and high price, I am sorry to say I do not...
Read moreFirst off...I love the food here, but find it hard to justify going here unless it's for carry-out, but it's too far away from me to justify that. The last three times I've gone here, the food has taken an extraordinarily long time to arrive (45-minutes minimum for appetizers or soup to start). Last night, when the entree finally arrived it was not only not spiced remotely correctly, but it was lukewarm at best...and when the owner came over...he physically picked up my plate and held it to the light "to see if steam was coming off of it"...seemingly calling into question my ability to discern for myself is something is "hot" or not. The quality of the food (once it arrives) is completely ruined by the experience of untrained staff, an owner that throws that staff under the bus, and this level of baffling customer service. I'm sad to say three times is a charm,...
