Mr. Genes hot dog stand is an institution that I have recently become reacquainted with. I am from WV, where slaw dogs are a staple, and because of skyline and gold stars, hold on the city's hot dog market you don't have many options for a slaw dogs in Cincinnat. Recently, I traveled to North Carolina and had the pleasure of eating at a hot dog stand every day during my vacation and was hooked on the convenience of getting a slaw dog whenever I wanted. A google search led me back to Mr. Genes, who serves a delicious slaw dog as a menu item. I pulled up to the drive through one Saturday and ordered two and had a little taste of WV that is right around the corner from work. Mr. Genes is pretty no frills. It is a stand where you can get different hot dogs, with chili and cheese, slaw, or even a Chicago-style dog. They have fries, slushies, and ice cream. The prices are decent, the service is pretty good and the food is delicious comfort food. I now stop through about once a week for a dog, and I am never...

Ordered the Chicago Style with a Large shake. Total was 9 dollars. The Dog was really really good and the shake was delicious. Only issue i have is the parking lot is kind of bumpy and location itself is in a bad area so there was some shady looking customers in and out but the staff was very friendly and the dog was worth the price. Will definitely be going back again and or making a stop there the next time im in that area. But use caution, lol, also there is some parking bumpers that u can very easily go without seeing if your not careful. But a great hot dog joint none the less.. Definitely worth a try, only reason i didn't give 5 stars is because of the location, parking lot, and shady customers soliciting around. Unfortunately though the last one is sort of out of the stores control.. So it is what it is. But I personally will be stopping back again next time in in or...

My grandfather in law grew up in this area and he always told me about how good this place was. I don’t think there’s a day that goes by that he doesn’t mention the Hot Met Coneys that they’re known for.

I got to talking about them the other day and made the trip out. Me and my wife ordered a bit of everything, we got a slaw dog, a coney, TWO hot met coneys (one for grandpa), a Chicago dog and chili cheese fries. I have to say, the food was all super good. It tastes very fresh and home made, like in your grandmas kitchen.

The hot met coney lived up to the hype, it was amazing. All the food I got was very good. They even gave me a woven sack with the Mr Genes Dog House logo on it to have my food in. I paid about $30 for everything which was very reasonable. Skyline would have been way more expensive.

Would love to come back!!! Pictured is the Chicago dog, it was an...

It had been a long while (8+ years) since I'd gone to Mr. Gene's as I was eagerly awaiting my "cheat" day... the onion rings were as awesome as I remembered!! Honestly, the coney mett left sooooo much to be desired. The mett itself was great...but the chili 👎👎 You can NOT give a native Cincinnatian canned chili!! I asked around if it had always been like that and was told that's the way its always been...I didn't recall it being that way. I guess my palate wasn't as discerning then. The service was decent. I would return for the onion rings...a few folks in line raved about the shakes but I'd never buy another coney from there.

Mr. Gene’s Dog House on the west side of Cincinnati is a hidden gem for hotdog lovers. Known for their signature Chicago Dog, this stand delivers an authentic taste of Chicago with all the classic toppings, perfectly balanced in every bite. But it doesn't stop there—Mr. Gene's also offers a variety of other mouthwatering options that cater to every taste. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this spot is a must-visit for a quick, delicious meal that truly hits the spot.
