Buffet is fine, but BEWARE if attempting to get take-out.
This place recently reopened under the name "Asian Buffet" following a lengthy COVID-related closure. I wasn't in the area before it closed, so these comments only refer to the time since they've reopened.
The buffet is small but reasonably well stocked. They have a wide variety of appetizers on the buffet, including egg rolls, spring rolls, dumplings, and crab rangoon, as well as boneless bbq pork, sweet and sour chicken, etc. The food was pretty fresh and service was good. I picked up a take-out menu on my way out.
A few days after my visit, I called them to order take-out. I placed my order, and they said it would be $187. It was a sizeable order for 6 people, but not $187 worth. I told them that sounded like it was too high, and they confirmed that it was $187. When I got off the phone, I added up the items I'd ordered according to the take-out menu, and I got $87, not $187. I called them back and told them that I thought the total was way off. They said maybe I had an old menu (I said it was only a few days old). They said I had forgotten about tax (Tax in NY is 8%, not 108%). They got about as frustrated with me as I was getting with them, so I canceled the order.
My guess is that when one of the menu items was entered into their computer, it was entered as like $111.95 instead of $11.95, and this problem only when people order that specific item. But given how unwilling they were to consider that there might be a mistake on their end, I'm disinclined to order from them in the future. I'll probably be back to the...
Read moreWe've been here 5 or 6 times since they reopened and the food keeps getting better and better - or, maybe I'm just discovering new foods I missed before. The buffet is huge, insane selection of amazing food. All of the traditional Chinese food in a seeming endless supply.
Food is replenished frequently, always fresh and hot. The past few times we went for lunch and it was packed, but still lots of room to walk through the dining areas and not too jammed at the buffet area.
The staff is pleasant and appropriately attentive, smiling and friendly. Plates were cleared away quickly, drinks kept filled and checking in with us.
The icing on the cake is that lunch is only $8.99 per person!!! Way, way cheaper than McDonald's and much better! Dinner is only $13.99 per person. No way you'll find anything this good at this price. And, the restaurant - inside and out - is very clean, too.
Definitely our favorite place...
Read moreMy wife and I love "doing lunch" at the Asian Buffet on Linden Street, off NYS Route 37, in Ogdensburg. It's an all-you-can-eat buffet with so many excellent tasting selections that we still haven't tried everything available in our first few recent visits. Chicken and pork dishes predominate, with some beef and seafood items including shrimp and crab! Fresh fruit and desserts round off your meal, and an assortment of Pepsi products will quench your thirst. The atmosphere includes some nice music (mellow Chinese pop?) played at a low level so conversation is not drowned out like some eateries. We enjoy ourselves each time, and ask God to bless this local business. (Judging from pre-Covid reviews the newer version Asian Buffet is much better than the...
