Sam'z Eats & Sweets — Restaurant in City of Rome

This used to be a favorite of ours, but has gone majorly down hill. I’m not sure if it’s new ownership or just making changes because of inflation, but the last 4 times we’ve left disappointed. It’s overpriced and servings are small. Their fried dough sundae is crazy expensive & it’s just a piece of dough & 2 small scoops ice cream. Compare to Nicky Doodles specialty sundaes. Like night & day but same price. Root beer floats are served in a small cup with barely any ice cream and soda. Compare that to Nicky Doodles or hell, even Stewart’s! At least Stewart’s gives you the rest of the root beer and a fair portion for what you pay. The hot fudge sundaes are like what you’d make at home, but triple the cost, and they use like dollar store prepackaged brownies in their sundaes. It’s worth the drive for Doodles because this place is disappointing. We also had an extremely rude server last time, threw my sundae on the counter, causing the whip & ice cream to almost fall off. She forgot hot fudge & when the gentleman told her, she came back & grabbed the sundae, (no words), aggressively added it & literally tossed it on the counter causing it to shift. Like we were bothering her. GTFOH. Last time we’ve been there too. We’ve patronized this place faithfully for 4 years. Not anymore. My experience was okay. I brought the entire family for ice cream. During payment, my chip for my card kept saying bad chip with difficulty collecting payment. After several attempts, the manager who was an elder female came to assist. She did not have luck inserting the chip either and asked for a different form of payment. When I responded I didn't, she stated "I don't know what to tell you" while shaking her head. This was embarrassing and in front of other people. My original cashier offered to pay which I declined and asked if they can manually enter my card information. An associate by the name of Justin came to the rescue and manually entered card info and processed payment. The regular staff truly helped with passion and for that, I will be back and recommend. The ice cream was great. I recommend leadership and customer service training for the manager who simply could not handle the situation or go the extra mile for such a...

Service was friendly and timely. Lots of places to sit but not alot of shade. There are frames to hold canopies but they werent up yet. There were several people who ordered food and were waiting, but it was coming out regularly and everything is cooked to order and no one seemed to wait too long. We had just ice cream, my husband got a banana split. It was over $6, but it was big (a whole banana!) ... he wasnt sure he could eat it all (but somehow managed to!! Lol). I got a small cone, butter pecan with no sugar added. I had asked if it had artificial sweeteners and was told no, but it had an after taste, so I think it did and wont get that flavor again, but it was very tasty just the same. Would definitely...
