My experience was unbelievably bad. My 2 kids, myself, and my dad where out,and decided to try somewhere new,I can't believe how awful it was.once we sat down it took over 10 minutes for anyone to even say hi,I'll be with you on a second, another 5 minutes or so we finally got our menu.the bartender/waitress wasn't polite, didn't smile, and was very distracted.we ordered 2 cheeseburgers and a chicken strip basket,it took over 45 minutes from when we ordered to get our food.i was tempted to just leave, but we all needed to eat.the waitress "dropped off" our orders never asked if we needed anything,if it was ok, she didn't say a word or look our direction the entire time until I finally went up to her to ask for the check. One of the burgers didn't have cheese, both buns were burnt and hard around the edges.the chicken strips were fine, but 2 out of the 3 baskets of fries were lyterally cold, all 3 were burnt. Half the fries were hard,to the point of being so overcooked you squeeze them and they would turn to sharp shards of crisp or powdery crumbs.i wanted to return it all,my dad pointed out how long it took to get the our food, and how hungry the kids were,so we ate what we could, left the rest.,never complained, not that the waitress would have noticed. When we were done wewe wait a good 5 minutes with our baskets in apile before I asked for our check, seems she wasn't coming over, after a few minutes we got it, then we stood at the bar for over 5 minutes trying to pay, elboys resting on the bar with money in hand so she could see, while she ignored us, acting like when we wanted to pay it inconvenienced her.she clearly just wanted to bartend and not worry about tables. The hole time we were there you could her the waitress talking to the guys at the bar about how bad her day was. The way the service was so unprofessional, and just plain bad,we could only eat maybe half our food.we will...
Read moreOh, Cabinet Mountain Bar & Grill in Clark Fork, Idaho – what a gem of a dive that's somehow still standing after that fiery little "renovation" back in 2015. You pull up to this rustic shack in the middle of nowhere, thinking you're in for some hearty mountain grub, but nope, it's more like a survival challenge for your taste buds and sanity. The menu promises burgers and prime rib, but what you get is a patty so overcooked it could double as a hockey puck, and fries that taste like they were deep-fried in disappointment. And let's not forget the star of the show: that waitress with the bad attitude, who's got a glare sharper than the Cabinet Mountains themselves. She slaps down your water like you're the one who just insulted her family, and if you dare ask for a refill, she'll sigh so loud it echoes off the pinball machines. Service? More like a slow-motion train wreck – prompt only if you count waiting 20 minutes for a beer as "efficient." The atmosphere's got all the charm of a forgotten truck stop, with bar games that probably haven't been cleaned since the place reopened, and live music that's just locals karaoke-ing off-key to drown out the complaints. If you're into overpriced mediocrity served with a side of snark, this is your spot – otherwise, keep driving, because Clark Fork deserves better than this...
Read moreWe were hungry after a morning of canoeing and on a Sunday morning, this was the only option in Clark Fork (that we could see). Other reviewers had good things to say about the burgers, so we decided it was worth a shot. My companion had a bacon cheeseburger, his opinion was, "meh, its a burger" - nothing special. Not eating red meat, my options were a chicken finger basket or fish and chips. The fish and chips were pretty miserable - the two pieces of fish were formed flat, clearly intended to be part of a fish sandwich - and really dry. The basket was not served with cole slaw or even tartar sauce. I couldn't make myself each the second piece of fish, it was so bad. We had to ask for ketchup and mustard for our fries and burger. The server never refilled our water. The server had to ask us what we had ordered in order to make up our tab (granted, she had not taken our order, but she did bring the food to the table). Five parties of 2-4 each all walked in within 15 minutes and this clearly overwhelmed the staff. To sum up: the service was terrible, the food was miserable to mediocre, and the only thing saving them from 1 star is that the fries were crispy and not soggy. I can only imagine what would have happened if I had asked...
