The Islander Bar — Restaurant in Clark Township

I wish I could give you the wonderful review that I did in August 2022 (We had dinner on a Tuesday evening at 5:45. We were immediately greeted at the door and seated in the dining room. Taylor, our server, was congenial and very proficient. Our food was readily prepared. The 5 of us thoroughly enjoyed our food; an Asian wrap, a pulled pork sandwich with slaw, a chicken Caesar wrap, and a crispy chicken salad. The only negative might be the Coke as it was lacking carbonation. We would definitely recommend dinner at The Islander!!) Fast forward to July 2024 - Instead, we were greeted with a sign on their front door that stated they wouldn't allow any outside food. Unfortunately, after several years, my sister continues to deal with the results of long covid - literally leaving her with 10 different organic items she eats repeatedly day in and day out. She'd love to be able to order off your menu and eat like the rest of the world, but when she does she becomes very ill. It's difficult to understand why the Islander was not sympathic to an illness that has left her weighing 89 lbs and is out of her control. Since our party of 5 was turned away, it's hard to give The Islander a 5 star rating as no other restaurant in Michigan has turned her away without an explanation especially on a less than busy Tuesday evening...

If you’re fortunate enough to visit Hessel Mi . Don’t miss the opportunity to have eats and drinks at this restaurant. The atmosphere is so fun, it’s extremely clean, staff is very efficient and we could understand why after meeting some of the managers Abby, Paula , and not sure if Mike was management as well , but he definitely seemed to orchestrate the flow through out the whole restaurant. Lastly, the food is very good!!! .. for lunch we had whitefish tacos that were absolutely delicious in the evening we had bang bang shrimp and whitefish/ perch fish fry, also very good ! We have been going to Hessel for many years and for a long time we didn’t go back to this restaurant because it wasn’t that good , so Hats off to the management...

We have visited here 2 times within the last month. First time came in at 8:40. There was a singer that night. Waitress finally came over at 9:05. We stated we wanted to order food. She said sorry kitchen closes at 9. We explained that that we had been there for over 25 minutes. She went and asked cook and we were able to order wings. Second time there (2 weeks later) at about 7 pm, we walked in and sat down. Waitress was taking an order at the table next to us. She walked by and went to put in their order. Fast forward 15 minutes later and she never returned to take our order. Then, 2 couples that she apparently knew walked in and she seated them and took their order. We walked out. This place has...
