On the Rocks Smoke House & Tiki Bar — Restaurant in Clay Township

Wow! Jackilyn did an amazing job taking care of the customers on this this busy early Sunday evening. She was so friendly and did her absolute best, as the only waitress.

We ordered the Giant Pretzel for an appetizer. It was hot from the oven and absolutely delicious!! We ordered the All You Can Eat Fish & Chips on special for $15. The fries were delicious, but the fish was tough, no flavor and very dry, a huge disappointment!

Biggest disappointment of the evening was that we chose On The Rocks for a quiet, relaxing, Sunday evening dinner. Shortly after we arrived, a man and women arrived and joined the group was standing up at the bar. This group interfered with Jackilyn's ability to go into or out of the kitchen. Shortly after, the man fell backwards and passed out. The group ran over and helped him up into a chair, it was then very obvious that he was highly intoxicated. He could hardly hold his head up, laying on the table. A man from the kitchen came out to check on him, then went back to the kitchen. For the next 15 minutes, the women he was with, forced him to drink water (telling him he wasn't going home until he drank it all) tapped him on his face numerous times to get his attention and continued to talk to him very loudly.....then she went back to the bar with her friends. It was very obvious at this point that she also was intoxicated. This man laid half on the table until the man that checked on him brought out a grilled cheese sandwich (another 15 minutes) the woman came back over and tried to force him to eat, drink water, again speaking to him loudly and in a very demeaning tone. I know my husband and I were extremally uncomfortable with what was going on during our whole visit, as were the other 8 tables that were forced to watch this happen. He should have been escorted out to a car and taken home by a designated driver, never left in the restaurant passed out on a table so his female friend could continue to drink. I'm sure the other 8 tables were not impressed with this type of behavior either. We all felt that when he fell down and passed out, 911 should have been called. Why didn't On The Rocks do something to remedy the situation? We're not sure we will return, just for this reason. Do...

I’ve been here twice, both times the service was horrible. The owner has been present both times... I honestly cannot understand how people approve this place. The first time I had to ask to get served and was seated for around ten minutes. Food was excellent. Then Waiting for 20 minutes for the bill AFTER I inquired about it. I watched as someone else waiting almost as long and then left with the waitstaff running after him. The second time which was last night 9/27/20 I took my mother and my girlfriend there as I have friends that said they liked it so I figured maybe they have improved. I was wrong. We sat down inside and it was freezing with the A/C so we opted to go outside. I asked the server if they were still serving outside and she replied that they were but just not at the bar. We sat down and talked, 10 minutes later the owner came outside, smoked a cigarette while looking at us... he then went and turned off the exterior lights and went Inside, this was at 9pm. No one ever spoke to us. We then got up and left and went to “on the hook” EXCELLENT food there and service ! I’m appalled at the level of service at this place especially with the owner present, that reflects on him. If anyone responds I could care less I will never go back again.

First time being here.. Was approached by a server telling us our server will be with us soon to get our drink order..we waited. Finally she came up and got our drink order..we waited again. Got the drinks and she took our appetizer order..we waited.finally we got to order dinner. Never seen her again and had to go to the bar and order another beverage. Sat and waited some more..went to the bar to get another beverage an while standing there waiting for the drinks i see another waitress bring our food out to the table. Again never seeing our waitress ever. We just wanted to eat and leave at this point. Half way through our meal she came up looking annoyed and asked if we wanted condiments for our dinner..clearly now finished pretty much she just walked away. We flagged another server for to go boxes. Our waitress seemed annoyed on waiting on is. Never really did her job because her co workers did it for her. 1 star given for that waitress.
