Lupe's — Restaurant in Clayton Charter Township

Lupe's is a small quaint Mexican American restaurant with simple decor where you walk in and seat yourself. The waitress was quick to get us our menus, get our drink order and gave us the right amount of time to get ready to order. The chips were hot out of the fryer and the sauce was just right for someone like me who likes the flavor but not necessarily the spiciness of Mexican food. We opted for the single wet chicken enchilada covered with cheese and a side dish of refried beans. The enchilada was exceptional. The chicken was cooked to perfection and had a delightful flavor. The refried beans were, well, refried beans. They tasted fine - I don't know what some other reviews expected. We finished off our meal with fried ice cream and two spoons. Our single enchilada and refried beans were enough to fill us up and I suppose that the dinners ($10 to $12), which include 3 enchiladas, would satisfy most hungry appetites. We will definitely be going back to try some of the other items...

I like stew beef burritos, but this restaurant serves potatoes in it and I do not like potatoes in burritos. I feel like it is a cheap filler. Also, my boyfriend ordered Nachos and they had alot of refried beans on it mixed with the hamburger another filler. Also asked for a refill of pop to go because it was ain't ice in the pop I was served and they did not even have any to go cups. I think I will stick to Cancun in Argentine or Vienna Rd next time. Biggest bang for your buck. They do have good chips though, but you have to buy them and not worth the extra cost when other places is complimentary. Very disappointed because it is close, but would rather drive farther for a better quality meal. El Portreros in Swartz Cteek...

We were looking for a real Mexican restaurant since we were passing thru town. And were very disappointed as its very much an American style Mexican place. They don't even give complementary chips and salsa. The chicken enchiladas had what she called gravy on it. I ended up getting a nacho and it reminded me you got something from like the mall or something. My boyfriend is Mexican and we were just surprised especially it being called lupes we were expecting more.
