We frequent Culver's, especially when traveling, because it's consistently good quality, reasonably fast, food at fair prices. Our visit tonight to the Clear Lake, IA Culver's missed on every mark but the price of the meal. We were traveling home, so we used the drive through. As I drove around the building, I noticed several cars on both sides of the drive thru window, which is quite common as orders are placed, paid for, and then delivered. Once we placed our order, forward progress of the order line pretty much stopped. As I was finally able to round the corner, there were 2 cars ahead of us. The lead car was at the window and I watched the exchange of payment and then they just sat there. As I watched, I saw one of the team having what looked to be a lively and exciting discussion with the occupant(s) of the car at the window for several minutes. They then left and another person brought bags to the window counter, placed them, and left. We waited at least 7 minutes. I noticed three orders on the screen turn red and then someone walked up, apparently cleared them, and left the window. And we waited longer. Eventually someone came back to the window and passed a small cup to the car (I'm assuming frozen yogurt) and they took it, paused a bit, and eventually drove off. The car immediately in front of us was served only slightly quicker, and definitely got frozen yogurt and left. When I got to the window, there was no greeting of any type, just a "your total is..." and a hand out the window for payment. I paid, received no thank you or apologies for the slow service, and then he turned and handed me the two bags which I had seen placed on the counter several minutes earlier, closed the window, and walked away. At this point we had been waiting in the drive thru line for at least 15 minutes. I checked our order, commented to my wife that I bet this is going to be disappointing, and we proceeded to pull ahead to check our order and get ready to go. I pulled out an upside-down, cold, and smashed order of fries and chicken tenders that were maybe luke warm. My wife's meal was bagged well, but it too was cold and soggy. At this point we'd been waiting much longer then we wanted and I just didn't have the patience to go back to the store and complain, only to wait, and be delayed even more. It's been a few years since I've been to this Culver's. I'm not sure that I'll ever stop there again. What a total...
Read moreI normally visit this Culvers in Clear Lake, Ia on my way to Mason City with the family. Today, I was sadly disappointed in the service and in the appearance of the location -more than normal. With the current COVID 19 sanitation, I expected the place to be clean. It was filthy. When I asked if I could have someone clean a table for me, the manager , a young female that refused to turn around to give the time of day, told the employee that they did not have anyone working the dining room because the person was on break and they didn't have anyone else. Yet, there were five (5) people just standing around literally doing nothing while I was placing my order. I cleaned the table with paper towels. When the food did arrive, it was luke warm, put together sloppy, and way too much condiments on the burger. The table where I sat had fly parts on the ledge by window which means it had been there a while. I decided to get some custard in the form of a hot fudge sundae. What I recieved was chocolate custard with chocolate magic shell. It was NOT hot fudge. When asked, they swore it was hot fudge. I have NEVER had fudge solidify into a hard shell. One last stop, to wash up before I left. The bathroom was atrocious. TP was literally stuck on the walls like someone had a wet TP fight. The floor was wet and toilet was icky. I turned around and walked out. I finally saw someone cleaning the dining room - 45+ minutes after my arrival. As I returned to my car, I snapped a pic of the entrance and the garbage can outside the front door. This is how the can outside the outside seating area looked as well. My visit today had turned me off from this location for a while. If corporate operations reviews this, my visit was today...
Read moreFood was edible. There were 5 people in line, one cashier. Other employees standing around. When I got up to place my order the cashier was asked a question by another employee and they stood around talking for a minute before I could place my order. After the couple behind me ordered. No one was in line so the cashier left and went to the restroom. Two groups of customers came in and were trying to figure out where to order. After a few minutes someone from the back noticed a line forming and no cashiers so he asked someone else to do it. I stood there for 5+ minutes everyone else had received their food. A lady asked if I was still waiting and then she found my order sitting on the counter. We were in a hurry so we just left. Food was cold, fish sandwich looked like a fish finger and was dry, very little tarter sauce. Burger had way to much ketchup and mustard, so that it was all over the wrapper. Of course they didn’t give me any napkins. My shake was melted and was vanilla custard with chocolate syrup in it instead of being a chocolate shake? I really don’t know what’s going on but this was a...
