The food is great, that isnt the reason for the 2 stars. This December I've been to the Clearlake stone fire location 3 times. On the 8th I ordered what I usually order an xtra large meat lovers, light sauce, thin crust and an order of mozzarella sticks. I didn't check it b4 I left, I should have, NO mozzarella sticks...jalapeño poppers, which I CANNOT eat. I called and they gave me a free order of sticks the next time I came in. On the 15th. Everything was ok except that even tho they asked what kind of sauce I wanted with the sticks when I called...i got NO SAUCE. Now we come to 2day, December 22. I ordered the usual - XL meat lovers, light sauce, thin crust. This time I ordered cheesy garlic bread. I called at.5:04pm they said 40 minutes. I went in, waited in line to pay. I paid, they told me another 5 minutes (i was a little early). They called my name i picked up my pizza and bread, walked out to my car in the rain, put my food on the front seat, got in the drivers seat, looked over at my pizza, took my keys out of the ignition, got out of car and took the pizza back inside. Went to the counter handed the girl my pizza and asked the woman "is this an xl ?" It WAS NOT. It was a large. Gave her my receipt to prove i paid for an XL. At 5:59 pm I called my mother to tell her I had to wait for another pizza cuz it was the wrong size. I waited for them to make another pizza. They called my name, they gave me the original large pizza and a small pizza made the way I asked for the xl one. Now in my opinion I should have gotten the original mistake AND MY ORIGINAL ORDER. THERE IS NO WAY A LARGE AND SMALL PIZZA ADDS UP TO AN XL PIZZA. The amount of slices may be the same - but in no reality of mine are the size of the slices even close to being the same. Obviously I am extremely annoyed. You may ask why I didn't say something and wait for what I actually ordered? One very good reason, I didn't get home until after 6:30pm (remember i 1st called at 5:04pm). My dad is a type 1 diabetic and has a schedule for eating. Which is usually between 6 and 6:30. I COULD NOT WAIT ANOTHER 40 MINUTES FOR THE...
Read moreI completed my order for a XL pizza online through Menufy at 6:45 PM. I followed up with a call at 7:00 asking if they had received my order, and they said that they had and it should be ready in a few minutes. So, I headed to the spot and the girl who had answered the phone said there had been a mistake, and that my order was just now going in the oven. I was confused as to how that had happened, but whatever, I shrugged and headed home. I waited at the house for 25 minutes or so and then I called as I was heading out the door to see if it was close to ready. I waited on hold for most of the drive back to Stonefire, but when I finally got someone back on the phone, I was told my order had been made a size too small so it would be another ten minutes or so. I waited for ten minutes in the car and then headed in. After several minutes of waiting in the store, I was told by someone (a manager?) my "your pizza hasn't gone in the oven, my brother says to give you a refund." Well, by this point it was 8:00 and I had a kid who was already up past her bedtime. I exchanged some terse words with the manager and left, wholly let down and disappointed, and still very hungry. This was the worst pizza experience of my entire 34 years of life.
Also very few in the kitchen were wearing their masks properly, if at all, including the manager. Maybe it's lucky I didn't get the pizza.

Read moreNot the best but not the worst pizza I've had. There's only a few pizza restaurants in Clearlake, so not many choices to choose from.
I'm a pizza connoisseur and have sampled pies from far and wide. I've had pizzas from Rome to Venice to New York to Chicago to San Francisco to L.A. to Shanghai, well, just too many places to list. The standard bearer to judge all other pizzas by, IMO, is undeniably Totos Pizza in the defunct Daly City, CA location, but now lives on in its San Bruno, Millbrae and San Mateo CA incarnations.
On a scale of 10, where 10 is the tastiest (ala Totos), Stone Fire Pizza is a 5. We ordered an extra large sausage, mushroom, pepperoni and black olives for $30. After a half hour's wait, we got our pie. I'd have to say that the toppings were noticeably on the skimpy side. There was a fair amount of thinly sliced pepperoni with a smattering of black olives. But hardly any mushrooms were present, and you'll need a magnifying glass to find the sausages. Sauce was OK, albeit without any notable hint of spices such as oregano or thyme. But the biggest miss was the crust. It had very little life in it - it was rather flat. I'm guessing it's from a frozen factory dough, not freshly made. In any pizza, it the crust and the sauce that make or break a pizza. At least they didn't burned the crust and the pie overall was edible.
Service wise was average. Not much in the way of alternatives in Clearlake, however. If you want better pizzas, you might have to learn to make them yourself or drive long distances to find...
