Kind Kups Coffee — Restaurant in Cleveland

I saw this spot while driving to eat lunch at the nearby Market + Eatery restaurant and knew I'd have to get a cup of coffee to drink on the way home.

A huge rainstorm blew in as I drove over and so I entered quite literally with a clap of thunder. It was scary! I made a joke about getting struck by lightning to defuse the tension and the two employees and the couple guests in the space looked at me like I'd grown three heads and said nothing. This frosty reception continued as I looked at the menu, asked a question, and placed my order. Not the most welcoming staff.

The atmosphere otherwise is very nice! Love the decor and the welcoming art and signs. Seems like a great place to get some work done. There's a small library where you can grab a book to read too.

There's pastries and baked goods for sale and maybe a few other things to eat; I was stuffed from lunch so didn't pay too close attention. I asked a staff member which of two specialty lattes she liked better; she flatly told me she hadn't tried the "Easley" but that the "Swann" was their best seller. I chose that. It had white chocolate and caramel; I declined the whipped cream on top and got it iced.

It was a really good coffee drink! Super pale blonde in color and very sweet...but that's how I like my sugar - er, coffee. It was a nice dessert/energizer combo and I enjoyed it a lot!

I’ve had multiple times where I’ve asked about a product being done differently than normal, and each time the girl has tried to tell me “Oh we have never done it that way” or “We have always done it this way”. This morning was the worst time yet. I went to get a parfait. Every time I have gotten one, the same girl has worked the window. And every single time, it has had blueberries and strawberries. Today, there were no blueberries and it instead had bananas. When I asked why there were no strawberries, the girl said “We never put strawberries in it, only blueberries and bananas.” The SAME GIRL has handed me no less than 10 parfaits with strawberries and blueberries, I have never had it any differently. That isn’t to say they don’t sometimes do bananas instead of strawberries, but be honest with your customers. Do not try to convince me I’ve mistaken strawberries for blueberries 10 times. Own the fact that you are out of strawberries and are using bananas today, and that would be fine. Don’t look your customer in the face and lie to them. A wonderful atmosphere. Great team, friendly, very well versed on their menu. Food was absolutely amazing. We were traveling through Cleveland, Alabama, on our way to our lake place in northeast Alabama. Had heard about Kind Kups and the name fits perfectly. A great place to come in and just sit, sip and read. Neat as a pin, quiet surroundings, comfortable seating. A great place to gather with a group of friends to converse and share a good time. Easily accessable from the crossroads and plenty of parking. Has a very convenient drive-thru, that moves along well. Beautiful scenery surrounds this location.
