Ireland's Pub — Restaurant in Clinton Township

Racism. Sat at the bar as a party of one and placed a small carryout order. I watched four customer's arrive after me and spread out amongst the bar. During a timeframe approximately between 40-50 mins, I notice that the four others are eating food as I sit and patiently wait for my small carryout order. I then realize where is my food, right? Well, believe it or not the waitress really does not have a valid explanation. She checks the food tickets and says it should be shortly ready. More and more food orders of other customers are being placed on the kitchen production counter area!!!!!!! I requested to speak with the manager which I learned was the owner named TOM. He unapologetically says, the kitchen follows the orders as food is requested. He then says I could check the time on your food was ordered and all others. Well, I understand the order of the kitchen- but I was here and ordered before the customers you are pointing to in your restaurant so help me understand this situation and follow up with me asap. Tom walks away without notice, heads to the kitchen, returns to me and says I can give you 20% off your bill. 20%? I have a $50 plus food order. Tom was VERY aggressive in manner as if this is a matter that I initiated as a customer. He never spoke of the outcome of investigating all orders were placed. I proceed to tell him that I have been waiting almost an hour for food. Tom cuts me off mid-sentence and yells "MAAM YOU DID NOT WAIT A HOUR STOP SAYING YOU WAITED A HOUR". I never been yelled at by a restaurant owner, i have never not received an apology or an explanation as to why customers who arrived after me received food prior to my order, I have never NOT been asked how I can be accommodated as a customer. Not to mention, there was a customer beside me cosigning Tom's behavior knowing that he arrived and ordered after I. Customer service is key and this restaurant lacks it on so many levels. MIGHT I ADD- while all of this is actually happening...guess who still was waiting for food? Me. I opted for a full refund and Tom still did not acknowledge the errors HIS restaurant made. You do not have to worry about me ever returning nor recommending this place. If I could give 0 stars, I absolutely would. ...

Since the food was good, I gave them 3 stars. We were there with a baseball team between games. From what I could tell, the manager helped our server get ready for us, since we had called ahead. However, his help stopped there. The server did fine until the food started coming out of the kitchen. There was no rhyme or reason to the way the orders came out. Apparently the kitchen was not aware of the way she had placed the orders in the system (by player's numer), so the parent's food would come out with the player's. Getting our food was a mess, and the manager had no clue or decided not to help. One coach got his food after several others were done eating. Paying the bills took a long time too. One parent took her bill to the manager, thinking it would help speed up the process. Wrong! He gave it to our server to cash out, stopping her from what she was doing....We barely made it back to the fields in time to warm up. Good thing the games were running behind. Might eat there again with a couple people, never with...

Amazing food. We have eaten here a few times before on late night adventures, and found the place to be surprisingly good; much better than what you would expect to be ordinary pub fare. On this visit they had a steak taco special on the menu, which we both ordered, and enjoyed immensely. Another feature we like about the place is the big selection of bottled beer, and a pretty good selection of draft beer, so lots of choices for your evening beer exploration adventure. The only thing preventing this being a five-star review, unfortunately, was the too-loud trivia game they were playing that night, which steamrolled all other conversation. Since we weren't playing trivia, trying to talk over the incredibly loud game announcer sucked all the pleasant atmospheric ambience from the room.
