Taqueria Fresnillo — Restaurant in Clinton

This is NOT Tex mex (Tex mex next door). This is authentic Mexican food. Everything from flavor to plating is pura Mexicana.

No chille relleno on Wednesday but the elderly lady told us it’s Caldo de pollo tonight. The chicken soup is off the menu , is a hearty rich chicken soup with carrots, zucchini, onion , cabbage… and comes with rice and tortilla ($8.50!)

We also ordered a plate of 3 tacos a plate of enchiladas a plate of flautas one gordita 2 bud light

Chips were super thin and warm + Salsa sauce - both a la casa.

Satisfying dinner

It was quiet at dinner hour (next door restaurant seemed more packed). Only folks eating here speaks Spanish so we are definitely in the right place.

I came in midday on a Sunday. The restaurant is homely, no frills, but very spacious and my server was super friendly. The menu is full with a bunch of awesome traditional Mexican dishes. I choose some gorditas, two with barbacoa and two with carnitas. Plus, a bowl of menudo. Everything came out fresh and hot. The maiz tortilla to Carne ratio heavily favored the meats, which was awesome. Each protein was very well flavored and you could taste that big were slow cooked and seasoned perfectly. The menudo was very clean and it too was packed with meat, very little hominy. Great food, great service, and very moderate costs....

As I was driving cross-country with my boyfriend, we found ourselves really hungry and saw Clinton coming up on the map. We actually looked up these Google reviews and stumbled upon Taqueria Fresnillo... we are SO glad we did! We absolutely loved it. Cute little place, quick service and really delicious, authentic food! We ordered the chicken quesadillas, chicken enchiladas, and beef sopas. It really hit the spot!
