The 'Farm Burger' is just a Bubba's Frozen Burger from any grocery store. If the owner of the Farm Cafe is reading this, your burgers would be a lot tastier if you used fresh ground beef instead of frozen patties. Please sample a burger from the Yard House and compare it with yours for flavor and you will see what I mean... Also, check out iHOP.. Yes, iHOP actually has amazing and delicious burgers that come with great french fries for $8! (Drink is a separate price).. but add a drink and the total bill comes to less than $12! Much better deal for much fresher and more delicious food.
Back to the review... Nice local business, good burgers good fries, nice atmosphere, historic location, fun place to eat, super friendly employees. ...But way overpriced, should be $9 for burger fries and drink, not $15 for burger and fries (no drink).
While waiting for your meal you can view and read about some of the history of Closter and NJ from the Revolutionary war including the Closter Horseman who saved Washingtons army from the British.
Farm burger appears to be a normal frozen patty from the grocery store since it has a very unique and well known patty shape with sharp edges and meat was hard packed. It's Bubba's Frozen Burger patties! Take a look online or buy some from the grocery store and you will instantly recognize the patty shape frozen and cooked. This resulted in an ok flavor but the meat was dry, tough from being compacted, and left a dry texture in my mouth. Not juicy at all. The fries are good, not amazing. They are short stick fries, slightly thicker than regular fast food fries but with the same seasoning as twister fries. Red Robin burgers are still the best and their steak fries are also the best too.
Pricing is too high at roughly $15 per person for a burger and fries and no drink. Would be better if they had a meal combo including burger, fries and drink at a cheaper price around $10.
In October you can pick your own pumpkins in their large pumpkin patch.
Lots of fresh made desserts and good drink selection too.
They harvest fresh honey here.
Parking is free and plenty since it's never too busy. It is unpaved and just loose rock fill, so drive slow to avoid kicking up pebbles that may scratch...
Read moreLoved this farm. Time seemed to slow down as soon as I pulled off the asphalt street into the farm stand parking lot. I stepped out of the car and was hit with the smell of a fireplace burning as I walked thru smoke I instantly felt like I was on a farm and out of the concrete jungle :) I was excited to eat considering I was starving and as soon as I walked in I smelled apple pie cooking and bread coming out of a oven which instantly brought me back to when I was a kid smelling my grandfathers bakery bread smell OMG heaven...There was demaree farm staff running around doing tasks needed to be done for the day. The leader of the pack one being Mary Crain who is the owner and a hands on owner at that 4 sure.. She was cooking and cleaning and taking food orders like some super farm woman. I gotta say as a contractor and a sucker for good food these girls had me when I walked in. I ordered the famous farmburger to stay & purchased some chicken pot pies and 3 different kinds of soup to take home with some apple pie of course." I did say I was starving lol "To sum it up lets just say I went home and had eaten all 3 soups and then chowed down on that apple pie which was just perfect. Mary mentioned the Antique buy & sell shop across the street which is in the original farm house from the late 1700's I had to check it out. I would never let the guys on the job here this but I love Antiques and of course very old houses. As I began my treasure hunt I began finding all kinds of great stuff. Some really great furniture ( not from IKEA) lol. There was anything you could possibly want to furnish a house at this place. I thought WoW what a great spot to come and kill a sunday considering I had to go I went back on sunday with my Lady who absolutely loved the place ended up staying for 4 hours spent the best 300 dollars I ever spent considering how much great stuff we got for the house. I hope this review helps and you all get the same nostalgic feeling I did. A piece of American history survives strong at the...
Read more2 STARS FOR FRIENDLY SERVICE ! Well for always passing it by I decided today to stop and taste their wares & take the food to go. Well the service was friendly except I ordered a veggie burger and 1/3 way through said this tastes too meaty to be veggie. So I called and âeventuallyâ heard an âIm sorryâ (I wasnât supp to have meat!) From the way I was taught in business you make a mistake, you make reparationsâThere was no offer to credit me back my $ or take my name so My next time in id have a veggie burger gratisânothing! Mistake no 1. If thatâs what their large signs are outside for this angus burger, mine was no homemade burger but a meat patty on a challah rollâcome on? Mistake no 2. The lemonade was weak and the prices ridiculous. A mini pie is $9.95!! A top of the line bakery like Le Gateau Suisse or The Riviera Bakehouse donât even come near $20 for a regular size pie and theres are double the height and incredibly delicious flavorâtheres no milk nor egg wash for it even to look like the pie was cooked but rather raw. And if you saw the toppings on my burger or the 1/4 cup of pork they put on the pulled pork sandwich, its a disgrace for almost $9. Mistakes no 3.& 4. When you look at the prices like $4. for 8 oz. ice cream, not even organicâdo you realize it comes to $32. A half gallon đł. Sorry I gave you a chance but you wonât get my money ever again. Ps. I think you should rename your cookies to crispy instead of burnt-who buys...
