I was searching for a new restaurant to eat and found Cork & Crust which is Italian mediterranean combo, which I love and decided to pay a visit as I was in the neighborhood.
It was around 4:43PM when I walked in to the restaurant with a friend and as we were walking in, the manager were looking at us as if we were aliens, the restaurant was almos empty, only 3 tables were taken, and there were at least 15 tables available.
As we approached the hostess, there were 2 young girls which they were looking at us as if we were not allowed to walk in to this restaurant; we asked her for a table for 2 people, and one of them replied hold on, and walked way to speak to the manager who as soon as he looked at us and stated that there were not table available. Hostess came over to us to let us know that we could not be seated because there were not tables available, but mentioned that there were a sister restaurant right up the block, you can literally walk there, she said.
We walked out of the restaurant and we felt discriminated and unwelcomed. We walked over to the restaurant that she mentioned and it turned out to be a Sushi Restaurant.
We decided to go bak to Cork & Crust to get a business card to write a review and as I walked in a Caucasian family of 3 without reservation asked for a table and the same hostess asked them out or inside? and asked them to follow her to the table to be seated rithtaway.
We were extremly disappointed and discussed by this behavior. It is so sad that there still people whom because of their color of their skin feel superior and...
Read moreI’ve eaten here on numerous occasions, the food is always very consistent and quite frankly the best place I’ve eaten in Bergen County in a long time at these prices. The octopus appetizer is to die for in my honest opinion. The bread that they serve in the beginning fantastic also, I think they bake it in the pizza oven before you receive it. The specials are always fantastic, I don’t know who they have cooking there but two thumbs up! Now let’s get down to the nitty-gritty, they have some items on the menu that are absolutely delicious that I’ve never gotten anywhere else, specifically chicken almafi, and a couple other chicken dishes and pasta dishes that are absolutely stunning. The portion size is incredible for the price. Very impressed. So happy this place opened up so close to my home. Every time I think about going out to eat it’s first on my list, my girlfriend is going to kill me LOL. I never wanna go anywhere else. as for the one star review I seen, that guy is out of his mind, the owner recognized me after being in there after only three times and sent me a free dessert and asked how our food was himself, the nicest guy! I would give this place 10 stars if I could, absolutely awesome. Hard-pressed to find a better meal...
Read moreMy family has always enjoyed dining at Cork & Crust until a very unfortunate incident. A member of my family has celiac disease and always orders gluten free entrees and lets the server know that they have celiac disease. The last dining experience was horrific. She clearly did not receive GF pasta because she was ill that Friday night, Saturday, Sunday and could not even go to work on Monday. When you have celiac disease, you know when you have come in contact with gluten and this was a full blown on bowl of Gluten pasta - Poison. We happened to look at the receipt and her entree was not marked GF. That told us everything. When I finally got a hold of the owner, which was no easy task, she seemed sincere when I told her what happened to my daughter and wanted to send her a gift card; which is exactly what she should do. My daughter suffered for days and all she sent was a $50 card. No note! No apologies! Cold! We could have taken this to a lawyer for their neglect and my daughter's pain and suffering - thought the owner would have cared more. If you are gluten...
